is this finished on both sides
Asked by: Jeff
Jeff, yes this sanded plywood (common: 1/2 in. x 2 ft. x 4 ft.) is finished on both sides. This piece of lumber was the perfect solution to replace damaged wood on my workbench. I did have to have the board cut to fit my workbench size. The Home Depot staff accommodated my request in that department. I can now use my workbench again. This board is stronger than the wood that came with the workbench. I attached my vice to the new board and this board should last a long time. Good luck with your project. Bob

Sanded Plywood (Common: 1/2 in. x 2 ft. x 4 ft.; Actual: 0.451 in. x 23.75 in. x 47.75 in.) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 193.

I recently purchased two 2'x4'x 1/2" boards to make drawer sides for a shop cabinet project. Upon cutting the drawer sides to length and width, I stacked them in two piles side by side. Eight pieces cut from the one board and eight pieces cut from the other. I noticed at least a 1/4" difference in height between the two piles. Not good. When I measured board thickness of the pieces with a digital caliper, the pieces in the first pile measured 0.46 to 0.52 and the pieces in the second pile measured 0.51 to 0.58! All over sized with little consistency. This makes cutting tight-fitting dados for the drawers a real issue. I didn't measure moisture content but I suspect it would be high and the reason for the oversized and inconsistent thicknesses. Both panels however, were flat and free from obvious defects. Next time, I'll take my calipers with me and take measurements before I purchase. Buyer beware!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not cooperative with nails... This wood was particularly difficult to work with for a small home project. I’ve made many string art works from standard plywood and the nails hammer in just fine. This wood would not allow the nails to go in easily. Nails snapped, bent and went flying across the room many times. Worst quality plywood I have ever worked with before. I am not sure if it was that the piece I got was extra knotty or what but it was an absolute nightmare to work with. I do not recommend.

The 5 ply provided the stiffness needed for the application. It was easier than buying a whole sheet but not as economical.
