It's unfinished, so there should be no problem with staining it. (But if you're trying to match color with some other wood, you may need to experiment.)

This is not plywood, it is a veneer on top of an MDF or similar glue based core, lasers like garbage, and I wish I hadn't wasted my money on it, but I bought it online so I didn't get to see it before hand, but hey lesson learned; will not buy again.

I've purchased "Sande Ply" products in the past and have always been impressed with the quality. I'm not sure if HD has changed suppliers but the 1/4" (actually 5mm) product I recently purchased was not of the same quality. The veneer is completely different and had quite a few defects and patches, and the core appeared to be less consistent. Worked fine for my wire shelf liners but I'm disappointed to see the quality shift. I also use the 1/2" product for other projects and hope that product is not affected. If I can edit this after publishing I will add photos of the old and new product.

Be sure to note that the thickness is NOT 1/4", but 0.205". Also, if you're going to paint it, you should use a primer first. It soaks up paint applied by itself, and requires 3 or more coats if not primed first. Aside from that, both sides are sanded fairly smooth, and I did not find any gaps in the filler material.

Generally the sheets were good, but I've found that portions of one panel are losing adhesion of the top veneer. It's splitting and the project is already done. Even though 4 of the 5 sheets were good, this compromises the entire project and I won't be purchasing again.

Worked fine for what it was intended. It is hallow and doesnt stop sound. Would not be good for upper floor where sound would travel dounstairs to room or area below.

The finish on both sides was good, though there was some discoloration of some kind on both sides, but as I planned on painting the drawers, this was not an issue. Good value for the money.

I bought this because I needed paint grade 1/4" plywood and the birch plywood you are currently carrying isn't even close to 1/4" thickness.
