Overview

The SaniCubic 1 is a pre-assembled heavy-duty simplex grinder pump that meets the demanding needs of commercial and residential sewage applications. The grinder system made of stainless steel liquefies solids into small particles prior to being passed through the 1-1/2 in. discharge. It is designed to handle multiple waste fixtures for applications such as residential single or group homes, commercial buildings, schools and many more. This new system consists of a 1 HP motor housed inside a compact but highly durable plastic enclosure. The motor has a high-performance grinding system and a fast-rotating cutting blade to reduce solids in the wastewater stream from toilets, tubs and showers, sinks, washing machines, dishwashers, etc. The SaniCubic 1 operation is as simple as the installation. The effluent enters the pump through 1 of 4 different inlets - 1 on either side of the unit at the bottom and 2 along the top. The inlets can accommodate 1-1/2 in. or 4 in. of diameter pipes. As soon as the wastewater level reaches the trigger point, the pumping system activates. The effluent is then pumped out through 1-1/2 in. of diameter rigid pipe connected on the top of the pump. Maximum pumping distances are 36 ft. vertically and/or 328 ft. horizontally. The inside of the SaniCubic 1 comprises of a couple of pressure switches and a circuit board assembly, which starts and stops the unit, a powerful motor, which drive the stainless steel cutting blade and the pump.

  • Wastewater from other sanitary fixtures is discharged into the SaniCubic 1 via four 1-1/2 in. or 4 in. inlets, on either side of the housing and on the top of the enclosure; the internal discharge pipe comes equipped with a check valve that prevents back flow into the unit; isolating valves (ball, gate valves) must be installed on waste inlets and on the discharge pipe to ensure that any service/maintenance may be carried out safely

If the pump stopped working would the waste over flow onto the floor?

This unit has essentially three openings or pipe connections. One is the inlet pipe, one is the outlet pipe and one is the vent pipe that leads back to the stack and goes out the roof. Once these connections are made during installation this unit is closed. It is closed like all sewage ejectors because of the dangerous sewer gas contained within. So if this or any other sewage ejector fails with out your knowledge, and you continued to use different fixtures. The water in those fixtures would eventually over flow. Typically this will happen at the closest fixture. Given the typical design of most houses in my area this is most often the laundry sink as it is most commonly installed in the basement close to the pump station. As all pumps will eventually fail it is best practice to install a high water alarm that way you know when the pump fails and can discontinue water use until it can be fixed.

Can pump be buried

Don't misunderstand me as I like Saniflo product a lot, However, I would suggest you do NOT bury this unit. The basic premise of this manufacturer is that there pumps and systems are above the concrete floor. No sewage pump will last forever, so you should consider the point at which the pump needs to be changed or serviced. If you bury a more conventional sewage ejector where the tank is buried you will have many alternatives when it comes time to replace the pump. For example if you use a Little Giant, or Liberty sewage ejector package and bury the tank, When that pump fails you potentially use another manufacturers pump as a replacement. Where as with this product the tank and pump are integral and need to be changed as a complete unit.

Can the system be installed outdoors, under structure?

I can not say that this unit was designed or intended for outdoor use. For example where I am that would never work because it would freeze in the winter. However I you are in a warm enough climate and it is installed in an area where it will not be rained on or in direct sun light you may be OK

My intuition is to say yes, but that is not how this is done. You need to do the calculations. To answer definitively I would need to know how high you need to pump. Pumps are rated on a graph called a pump curve. On one axis are the heights in footage, this is called the total dynamic head and on the other is the flow rates in gallons per minute. The pump curve is illustrated in the PDF label product brochure , which you will find under "Info and Guides" on the listing page for this product on the Home Depot web site. I would start by looking up the height you need to pump and see if the flow rate is adequate for your project
