SaniPlus 0.5 HP 115-Volt Macerator Pump

$ 820 25

Overview

The SaniPlus is a system that is used to install a complete bathroom up to 15 ft. below the sewer line, or even up to 150 ft. away from a soil stack. It can handle the effluent from a toilet, sink, bathtub and shower. The inside of the SaniPlus comprises of a pressure chamber, which starts and stops the unit, and the motor, which drives the stainless steel macerator blades and the pump. When the flush is activated, the water flowing into the SaniPlus activates a micro switch in the pressure chamber, which in turn starts the motor. The motor is sealed for life in an oil filled enclosure. A common spindle/shaft drives the impeller and the macerator blades. The moving parts therefore are kept to an absolute minimum. Water and organic waste matter enter the chamber and are reduced to slurry as the macerator blades rotate at 3600 RPM. The centrifugal force causes the reduced solids to be ejected through a grill into the container where it is picked up by the impeller pump mounted beneath the motor. The unit pumps the effluent upward to 15 ft. and/or 150 ft. horizontally (with gravity fall). Once the water level in the container goes down, the micro switch deactivates the unit until the flush is activated again. A normal operating cycle for SaniPlus takes about 10 to 15 seconds depending upon the discharge pipe run configuration; power consumption is therefore minimal. In addition to the toilet waste, the SaniPlus will also discharge gray water from a variety of other.

  • In addition to the toilet waste, the SaniPlus will also discharge gray water from a variety of other sanitary fixtures such as: a sink, a bathtub, a shower and a urinal; when adding a bathtub or shower, a base will have to be constructed; this base should be made out of a 2 in. x 6 in. (minimum) or 2 in. x 8 in. (recommended) on edge, to allow for the installation of a P-trap and the required 1/4 in. per foot gravity flow towards the pump unit
  • Wastewater from other sanitary fixtures is discharged into the SaniPlus via two 2 in. inlets on either side of the housing; either 1 or both inlets can be used as required; the discharge elbow on top of the SaniPlus can be turned either to the left, to the right, or towards the back, depending on the discharge installation; a non-return valve, which comes already assembled on the discharge elbow, prevents back flow into the unit
  • Unit has been designed with a vent connection on the lid; all plumbing codes require connection to a vent system; please note that the vent system should be a 2-way air vent; the use of mechanical vents, air admittance valves or similar devices are not permitted as these are considered 1-way air vent systems; it is also highly recommended for the macerator/pump to be connected to a ground fault interrupter (GFI) circuit
  • Design of this model consists of vibration absorbers which enable the reduction of operating sound by reducing the transmitted sounds from any location where such resonance transmission could occur; this new design reduces the operating sound of this pump by 10 dB
  • SaniPlus unit must be connected to our rear discharge toilet; this system uses much less water than a regular toilet; note: this toilet only works in combination with Saniflo systems

Pump makes am loud noise like something is clogging the unit! Can I take the pump apart and clean it out and reassemble it? I read where it’s pressurized to help the flow Is that something that can repressurize itself when reassembled?
Asked by: Confused
The Saniflo 002 is factory sealed and not meant to be serviced in the field. Newer models have access panels so that they are serviceable in the field. I would suggest you give Saniflo’s tech line a call before you proceed. I am concerned that if you put your hand into the pump at the opening to where it attaches to the toilet bowl that you may cut yourself on the macerating impeller. There number is 1 800 571 8192

What is white discharge coming out of macerator pump?

I had this toilet installed professionally 9 months ago and have now noticed a scaly white discharge on the floor around the macerator pump. My pump too runs occasionally with no water being used? Is it possible that it is overfilling and leaking onto the floor? The floor is not soaked so I know it is not constantly leaking. I have not used the descaler yet. Wondering if that could be the problem?
Asked by: Ahillard09
Is it vented, ? The discharge tube and vent are on top. Both should be connected per requirement..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product This product works as described and handles the discharge from a toilet, shower, and sink with no issues. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is after 5 years, the micro switch quit working and the pump will not shut off. We would flush the toilet repeatedly, and it would eventually shut off. I contacted Saniflo and they were very courteous and helpful. They immediately knew the problem. There is a rubber boot on the bottom of the pump assembly that gets stiff and isn't flexible enough to move the micro switch to the off position. When the water level rises in the tank, it pushes up the rubber and turns the switch on. When the water level falls, the pressure on the bottom of the rubber is reduced, allowing the switch to shut off. Saniflo sent a new rubber "boot" for the pump. I replaced it and it worked perfectly again...for a little over a year. Now we are back to the same problem again. In all fairness, we don't use the bathroom a lot. It might be helpful if it was used more to keep the rubber boot wet more often??? Not sure. Taking the tank out is a pain for me, disconnecting all the pipes and pulling it out of the closet where it's installed. Taking the tank apart is not a big issue. The re-installation is another big pain, wondering if any of the clamped pipes will leak. I'm concerned the plastic tabs on the tank will become brittle and break off when I open it up, too. My recommendation would be for Saniflo to come up with a silicone-based rubber boot or some other compound that would remain flexible over time. All in all, a great solution for a bathroom below grade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saniflo SaniPlus 0.5 HP 115-Volt Macerator Pump Wonderful. Worth the $788. Easy to install as a replacement. I am a woman. Only needed a screwdriver and a utility knife to cut a part off to size ... to fit an existing pipe size. Had to make 2 purchases. The 1st purchase arrived disfunctional. Luckily I looked inside the larger hole connecting to the toilet and noticed the defective part before connecting and turning on. Simple to CALL THE NUMBER PROVIDED, reorder, and return disfunctional product to a Home Depot store. The ONLY real big hassle was with PayPal. Luckily the Home Depot clerk was persistent, clever, and sweet in the face of a frustrating situation. I will not use PayPal for such an order again that has the possibility of a return. The 2nd order was on my doorstep within a couple days and took 15 minutes to install.

I was very disappointed when it arrived damaged. The damage was not caused by shipping, but by the person that package the product. I think I was sent someone's broken product, very disappointed. This happened twice, and I decided to go with the SaniAccess 3 and was very happy with that model. The capacitor on these units seem to be the weak point and the SaniAccess 3 has an area to fix the capacitor without getting messy, literally! :)

Although the first unit to arrive was leaking oil from the "sealed" oil filled motor, requiring us to re-order and return it to a local Home Depot store for a refund, the way I was treated requires me to give the overall rating of five stars. I had to charge the replacement unit to my card prior to getting the refund when I returned the damaged unit to the store later that day. However, the charge for expedited shipment ($35) was waived and I received the new unit in great condition a day before they told me to expect it. The customer service personnel were very helpful on the phone and at the store. The new unit is now installed and working great.
