Questions & Answers

Is this more of a flatter microfiber, or a textured velvet?
Asked by: aL
Feels like a standard velvet. If you brush it in the opposite direction it gets darker like velvet and carpet.

what assembly is required

Asked by: Barb
Barb, The Home Decorators Collection Savannah Tufted Chaise Lounge comes in four large pieces plus the legs. This item will require full assembly. You will just need to attach the back to the seat, then the arms. After that you will just screw in the legs.

I really like the style of this chaise, it has a classic and timeless look that can fit into any decore. One thing that really attracted me to this particular chaise, was that both sides have the raised arms. Many I have seen only have the arm on one side to lean against, but this one has it on both sides, giving you many sitting options. The honey color has a nice golden tan hue which works well with my color scheme. The smooth velvet fabric is so soft to the touch. The chaise lounge was shipped in two boxes: the seat and back in one, and the arms, legs, and hardware in the other. Each item was packed very well to protect it from damage during shipping. Assembly was very straight forward. It took one person about 30 minutes to put together the couch. This includes the unpacking time. The instructions were simple and easy to follow. None of the hardware is visible after you assemble the chaise lounge. The fabric on the back side of the back of the couch and the bottom of the seat are secured with velcro. This makes it so you can easily lift it up, install the hardware, and cover it back with a clean, professional, and finished look. I was so happy when I finished the assembly and got to sit on the chaise lounge for the first time. It is so comfortable and supportive when you sit on. It's the prefect place to unwind and relax. You can fit two people very comofortably sitting side by side, or one person with their back against the arm and their legs propped up on the lounge. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to sit in sytle and extreme comfort. A must buy.

It gets only light use as a lounge in the library, but remains easy to clean and looks timeless. Make sure when assembling that you tighten all bolts securely.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I'm very disappointed in the quality of this settee. It looks nice but it's not very comfortable,... I'm very disappointed in the quality of this settee. It looks nice but it's not very comfortable, it's constructed out of cheap materials in a way that makes it not feel nice to sit on. A week after putting it together and the area still smells like the lumber section of Home Depot and it's not made in a way that I would expect it to last. First, it's a settee, not a chaise lounge. The box has it marked as a settee. A chaise lounge is something you can lay down on. You can't really lay down on this unless you're less than 5' tall since it has an arm on each side. This doesn't affect my rating but it's just another nit I felt like picking. Sitting on it feels like sitting on an upholstered bench and not a sofa or nicely made chair. In upholstered furniture, the thing the cushions sit on can be made from different materials depending on the quality of the piece and what the design will allow. Generally from most expensive to least expensive is 8-way hand-tied coil springs, coil spring insert, sinuous or "S" springs finally webbing. This settee uses a sheet of OSB for the deck under the cushions as well as for the back. It's noticeable that there isn't as much give as compared to sitting on other upholstered furniture. The other drawback of using a hard surface is the cushions will wear out faster than they would if they had a base that had some give to it. Two sets of cushioning isn't just how seats and sofas are made. It's a well tested design like why it's better to have a box spring under your mattress and why running shoes have insoles and outsoles. The back is too low to be of any use sitting. A throw pillow by each arm does make it more comfortable. I'm a little over 6' tall so I can't lay on it but even with my shoes off and knees bent it doesn't feel very comfortable. Like I said earlier, it's mislabeled a chaise lounge on the product page. I've had somewhat expensive sofa's taken apart to move once so I sort of know not to expect good looking wood underneath but I was still shocked at what I saw. Better, more expensive furniture will still have hardwood or engineered hardwood products underneath, good strong wood joinery. Less expensive furniture will have softwoods. This looks like softwoods, in fact the description says pine so we know it is, in addition to the OSB deck and even some ripped 2x4 framing lumber which is also a softwood. Oh yeah and there's also some cardboard in the construction. Look, I've been in situations where I've used the type of lumber you wouldn't normally use for furniture to make furniture I needed that was cheap and good enough but I am pretty picky about the boards I select and make my cuts around defects. One of the 2x's under the seat had a bit knot and voids. That makes that part of the board weaker. Most of the boards I was able to measure had moisture content in the 8-9.5% range with only one showing over 11%. At least they used dried lumber. The legs were nice turned wood legs. It's hard to tell how the members are joined. Some of the joints were cut too short and didn't meet up with the other boards. There was no indication that the piece was made with quality woodworking joints. There are corner blocks used in the seat. They were using a dull blade on a saw and it left the cuts very rough. There were bits of wood and splinters here and there even before I had to do any drilling. Installation should have been easy but when I was installing one of the arms I realized that the holes were drilled incorrectly in the seat. The holes didn't line up with the bolts in the arms. This was especially annoying because while drilling the holes wasn't that big a deal, picking out all the bits of sawdust and wood chips from between the fabric and wood took a long time. It looks nice though. In my situation I'm more concerned about how it looks than how it performs so it's still usable. If I was buying something where I expected people to sit in it regularly I would look for something else. This is very cheaply made, I don't think it's comfortable compared to similar furniture and I don't expect it to last more than a few years of regular use without at the very least the seat bottoming out on the OSB when you sit on it.
