AnswersThank you for your question. It is possible to build the lock in this configuration. This would require that the store place a "special order". The ordering configuration for this would be F51A ACC 619 ACC 716 (specify handing) if you want satin nickel outside and aged bronze on the inside. The opposite would be F51A ACC 716 ACC 619 (specify handing). Handing is determined from the outside or keyed side of the door, If the "hinges" are on the left side of the door as you are facing it, then specify "left hand".

Answersthat''s called the 'emergency egress feature' - an function usually preferred on a more higher end or specialty lock .. as for the 2nd part of your question - since your hand is already on the lockset - coming back in - lock it- like you do your car.. otherwise, if your girlfriend got mad an exited - you'll have to get up off the couch anyways to lock the door again - before she comes back in with the gasoline and shovel

Installed this Schlage F51 keyed lockset to my steel service door on my garage. Less than 6 months later the handset would turn but not retract the latch. On disassembly I found that a pot metal piece in the latch assembly was already broken. Specifically, when installed for a 2 ¾ inch offset the ‘universal latch’ relies solely on a pot metal piece for the operating rod to connect with and retract the latch. When used with a 2 3/8 inch offset, a stamped steel piece catches the operating rod instead. To me this has proven to be a poor design by relying on a pot metal piece to operate your lockset. I‘d much rather use a non-universal latch and will gladly slide its inner assembly to the 2 ¾ inch setting; a simple adjustment that does not take a mechanical engineer to accomplish. Heck, those older-style latches actually had an inner and outer stamped steel piece to capture the operating rod.
