can this handle replace just the existing schlage round knob

how do i know which box contains right handed vs left handed, if it matters to me
Thank you for your inquiry. The packaging will be labeled LH (left-hand), RH (right-hand), or Universal (includes both) for the handing preference. To determine handing, stand outside your door. Whatever side the hinges are on from the outside will be your lock handing. Are the Schlage Accent Levers "F" Series?
Yes, The Schlage passage levers are part of the F series. Our F series locks include F60 (handles sets), FC60 (custom handle sets) F51 (keyed entry locks) F40 (privacy locks) and f10 (passage knobs/levers)
Will this set fit an existing handle hole whose centerline is 2.75" from the door jam?
Thanks for your question and interest in Schlage. Schlage uses ANSI/BHMA builder standards when designing our locks. So yes your backset will align with the standard 2 3/4 inch backset needed for installation. Can these be used with an older mortise latch that has a 1/4" spindle?

Can i use this set as a dummy type set of handles for an external french door (the side without the actual locks)? Just wondering if I do not install the internal plate/latch mechanism if there is a way to make them immobile handles? Thx
Thanks for reaching out! If the door is not bored you can install the F170 model as that is the inactive dummy lever. If the door is already bored then you can install the F10 passage lever without the latch mechanism however, the levers will still move if engaged. What material is this handle made out of? In the specifications it says "metal," which doesn't tell me anything. I don't really appreciate the secrecy, it's a huge inconvenience to take time to figure this out.
