AnswersThe distance between the screw holes is 3 15/16" The total length of the knocker is abt. 6". It is solid brass with the satin finish. A template in the package is used to mark the holes for the screws which are drilled all the way thru the door and capped with washer covers. Need a 3/8" drill bit.

Replaced an older knocker as I wanted to change color scheme. It's well built and feels solid in application. In addition to the knocker, I also replaced the kickplate and door handle, all by Schlage.
The knocker installation was a breeze. For new installs, the packaging doubles as a template to help determine screw locations. I like the look and hope finish lasts a while!

Was happy to have finally found the right sized door knocker that matched the same as mine as this is the original builder door to my home; however, the hole for the screws are higher which will leave me to drill a hole in the door. My handyman will fill in the area and I planned on painting the door black (interior).

3/8 inch holes are way overkill, terrible instructions. Also, the unit shipped with bolts that were too long to snug the knocker flush to the door. Been waiting more than 2 weeks now for a replacement from Schlage, and after only waiting 8 days initially for HD to deliver...Huge disappointment.
I wasn't able to find anyone to put it on....
