as far as the backplate can the screws be installed horizonal? or do i need to re-drill the holes. Im replacing levers with new knobs and the existing holes are horizontal, not vertical as shown...help? thank you
Any of our regular F-series products (whether its lever-style or knob-style) have screw holes above and below the interior lever/knob. If the screws are horizontal, then you may have purchase a J-series product, which is not compatible with any parts from an F-series product. Yes, each one has a key. I’m not sure of the appropriate name, but it’s like a pin.
It can be opened from the outside. It's not so much a key, but rather a metal pin. Anything that' straight, rigid and the right diameter could theoretically open the lock (12 gauge wire, end of plastic comb, etc.)
No, the knob has a turn lock.
They sell a special standard key to open these types of locks. You can use a small flat head screw driver also. But that is what the small circle is for, a small standardized key fits into it.
It does not have a key you can use to open from the outside. The “privacy” knob is primarily used for bedrooms and bathrooms so, it has a small hole on the outside, as pictured, and it comes with a tool that you can use to open it from the outside. There is an option with a key, the “entry” door knob.
