Does only the key provided open the door? Or can people stick something as a key that would also work?

For a privacy knob, it's more or less like a very small flat tip screwdriver, so pretty much anything small enough to fit in the hole with a flat tip will unlock a privacy doorknob.
In an emergency how easy is it to unlock from the Outside? Can anything slim (like a hairpin) be used or does it need special tool (and much practice)?

Can this knob be used with a mortise lockset?

Does this door knob make noises when turned? My current doorknob to the bedroom clicks when you turn the knob and I am looking for one that is silent when it turns.
No it does not.
We have these installed on all of our interior doors and none of them make any noise. Hope this helps.
On only the black matte color the description changes from locking to non locking? Can anyone explain this to me?
