Great adhesion, but hard to apply
This tape is very sticky - so sticky that it sticks to the backing.
My Solution:
1. Before you remove the tape from the roll, lift about 1 inch of the end off the roll.
2. Using your sharp and short thumbnails, work on a corner to separate the red backing from the gray tape. This is very difficult. See photo 1.
3.Being careful to keep the 1 inch of backing free from the gray tape, peel off the EXACT length of tape needed, and cut it off the roll using a razor sharp knife.
4. Firmly press this length of tape onto your item.
5. Firmly press the gray end of the tape to your item.
6. Holding the free end of the red backing close to the tape attached to the item, pull the red backing parallel to the tape and away from the gray end until the red backing is removed completely. Do not pull the red backing up; pull parallel. See photo 2.
7. Carefully align your second item and press it firmly to the exposed gray tape.
Patience will bring victory.

Very Heat Resistant and Strong
This tape was used for a lot of applications. It's as must have a thing as duct tape. (1) Originally selected it for keeping the alarm magnet fixed onto a sliding door frame that faces the sun. It' was a simple but maddening problem because the aluminum frame opposes adhesives. -Tried every other kind of tape, superglue, epoxy, hot glue and it just fell off. The alarm would blare so often I could never set it.
The indoor version of the double sided tape would melt and then fall after a week in the Central FL summer. Under the premise that its-possible-that-it-could-exist searched for a theoretical outdoor version. Found it and the magnet has been up for 2 years straight and still going. Yay!
(2) Later used this for a mailbox project involving the mounting of black background letters on a new, black post office box. The box is out in front unobstructed so it gets dangerously hot as it receives light 100% of the day. This is the kind of sun that burst two of my heavy duty water hoses. It's been 2 years and the letters are still securely fixed.
*** Careful in applying it because it's VERY strong. When putting on the metal address numbers I thought about moving them to the right a bit. It was so stuck on that removal seemed difficult with a little bit of a bad idea flavor -so plan ahead and rehearse the application plan.
I plan to mount an outdoor junction box for mp3 jack and outdoor amplifier in the porch. If the mounts on the outdoor speakers give me trouble, I will use this tape too!
As a chemist I'm astonished how well the adhesive chemistry works in the REAL WORLD. It holds 5 lbs. To think there's a 10 pound version!

Sticks well even to the red backing.
I am on the fence with this product. This does adhere two things together very well if one allows a day or two for it to set up first. It is no good to put a load on it too soon.
Another issue is the difficulty to remove the red backing, which can be frustrating as the whole piece of tape will peel up attempting to remove the backing. I have found using the point of a utility knife, stabbing the red tape (just barely) near an edge and tugging up can separate the tape from the backing. Sometimes it works quickly and other times it takes a dozen tries.
I suppose I recommend it mainly because there are few alternatives.

Strong hold and versatile uses.
I've now used this tape for three projects. If the surfaces you intend to stick together are clean (especially make sure you are completely free of silicone sealer residue, dust, loose or aging paint, aged wood, or similar) then this tape will stick and hold very well. It does not adhere to surfaces that are of questionable soundness and it won't stick to silicone sealer residue AT ALL, EVER. I just mounted some polycarbonate windows to a fiberglass boat, and the initial adhesion appears to be very good. In my case I'll secure the pieces in place with intermittent screws to minimize potential gaps as the materials flex in the heat/cold. For two earlier small projects, like holding my radio receiver in my truck's cup holder, and for holding some foam blocks in place to protect heads from hitting screw ends, the material appears to be working as well as expected. Two things I concur with from other reviews are that the backing is hard to handle and the material seems unreasonably expensive. Overall, this is a good choice for bonding materials, just make you choose the materials and prep them properly.
