Q:what setting do i pit for my drop seeder

Answer This Question

A:  Scotts Ez Seed Patch & Repair Sun & Shade is intended more as a patching product, but we do have a way that it can be applied by a spreader. Set the spreader to the highest setting available, measure the area you wish to apply EZ Seed to and determine how much EZ Seed you need for the area and put it in the spreader. Go over area in alternating (perpendicular) directions until spreader is empty.

Q:How many days do I have to water after it sprouted?

    Answer This Question

A:  Once grass has begun to become established (been mowed at least once) should still make sure area is getting approximately 1 inch of water a week either by watering 2-3 times a week or from rain.

    by|Aug 28, 2021

A:  You should keep watering it until it gets a few inches high. If it just started to sprout, and it is hot,it is crucial to keep, watering it at least every other day or it will die.

All crabgrass and purslane. Do not buy!
All crabgrass and a weird crawling common purslane. Our lawn is devastated! We paid a fortune for the seeds for a tiny repair spots. It is taking over our backyard!

            Disappointed
Wish there was a zero star option. They guarantee it will grow anywhere. Can't even get it to grow in the best environment possible. I hand tilled the bare spots, put the seed down and waited. It was watered, the temp was never below 65, no foot traffic and in sunlight. Not even one blade of grass. Very disappointed.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Ezseed Tall Fescue and appreciate your feedback. A deep and thorough initial watering is the key to success. Make sure the ground is still visible when EZ Seed has been applied and saturate with water until no more water is being absorbed and mulch turns dark brown. When EZ Seed begins to turn light brown, it's time to water again. Continue to water daily as needed to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall. This seed germinates best when daytime temperatures are between 60 and 80 degrees F. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.
              Easiest way to grow grass
I've tried many different products when it comes to growing grass, with varying results. The Scotts EZ Seed is far and away the best one. Consistently produces healthy, thick grass, usually mowable after 2-3 weeks. All you need to do is keep it wet. No need for straw or any additional fertilizer. Just make sure its consistently moist and the day time temps aren't much higher than 80 or lower than 60. It's expensive but well worth it.

                Not worth the money
I tried ez seed & patch 2weeks ago and still no results and was not satisfied. I followed the instructions loosen the ground with a hand tiler, spread the seed using a spreader over about 2" of fertilizer, and put ez-straw to cover It

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts EZ Seed Tall Fescue and appreciate your feedback. This grass seed will germinate best when temperatures are consistently in the 65-80 degree F range. Cool nighttime temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. Second purchase was a disappointment.
After great bare batch results with my purchase I bought more… the results was a complete disappointment. Not one blade of new grass after more than a month, didn’t do anything different in preparation and the weather was suitable for growth. Purchased through Amazon so I don’t know how long it’s been sitting on the shelf if that’s an issue… after looking at the reviews it looks like I’m not the only one.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Ezseed Tall Fescue and appreciate your feedback. Different grasses germinate at different times. Germination times on label are based upon the grass type in the bag that will germinate the quickest. For Cool Season Grasses (Bluegrass, Ryegrass, and Fescue) soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees (+12.7 Celsius) for grass seed to germinate. This generally requires daytime temperatures consistently in the 65+ degrees (18.3 Celsius) range for cool season grasses. In the spring it takes a lot of consistent warm temperatures to warm up the soil, especially in the northern states. Cool night-time temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Cold weather will delay germination but will not hurt the seed. We recommend watering 1-2 times per day to keep the seeds moist, until seed germinates. Then, we recommend watering about 1-1 1/2" per week as needed. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination. Weed control used prior to seeding such as a Crabgrass Preventer will prevent seed from germinating. Weed control product used on new seedlings - such as Turf Builder Weed & Feed or Ortho Weed-B-Gon (Killex in Canada) will kill seedlings when they first germinate We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.
                    Be patient
Living in the PNW, spring is a rough time to try laying seed but with the HOA on my tail, I had to give it a try. I bought two bags of Patch and Repair Tall Fescue. After clearing the areas with a rake, I applied according to directions. I’ve seen a lot of reviews about saying “no grass after a week, two weeks, etc.” it took 4 weeks for germination to occur due to the cooler temperatures. Think ground temperatures, not ambient air. Grass germinates at night so if it’s cooler during the night, germination will take longer. 4 weeks later almost every spot I applied EZ seed to has sprouted. I also found I had to water more that twice a day. 3 was my average, with 4 waterings happening on a warm weekend we had. The directions make it sound like a quick fix.. but time, frequent watering, and warm ground temps are really where you will find success. Good luck all!

                      Great for trouble spots!
I had a tree removed last year and I overseeded this year where it used to be. Overseeding worked except for a couple of difficult spots. So I got EZ patch for these spots in early October. 2 weeks later the spots are gone and it is filling in nicely! Thanks Scott's!

New grass is growing well after just 14 days!
New grass is growing well after just 2 weeks! I just sprinkled some Miracle Gro Soil, then applied the EZ Seed. Watered morning and whenever the soil looked like it was ready (light brown). I'm very happy with this Product!

                          No results
Bought this a couple months ago, applied 3 weeks ago. Followed directions. Not a single blade of grass. Not one. Maybe those spots are terrible for some reason, or this sat on the shelf at Ace for too long, but this stuff certainly didn't accomplish anything.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Ezseed Tall Fescue and appreciate your feedback. For best results, this product should be applied when daytime temperatures are consistently in the 65℉ range for cool season grasses and in the 85℉ range for warm season grasses: the warmer the soil, the faster the germination. Awesome!
Initially temps were a little cool. I was paranoid for a little bit but it filled in thick as soon as it warmed up. It took about 10 days to germinate. 4 1/2 week later it looks great! So much less expensive than sod!
