Can it kill or damage newly planted lawn which is about 3 weeks Old, if applied to take care of crabgrass growing with the real grass?
Asked by: omomama
Turf Builder Weed & Feed can damage new grass. We do not recommend applying this to newly seeded area until it is growing and been mowed at least 3 times. This product will not control grassy weeds such as crabgrass.

When should the product be applied after cutting it or when grass is long

Asked by: Hoppy
from scotts website 1) Check the Weather: If rain is in the forecast in the next 24 hours, apply another day. Rain can wash the particles off of weed leaves before it has a chance to work properly. 2) Fill and Set Spreader: Applying Scotts® Turf Builder® Weed & Feed requires a lawn spreader. If you need a new spreader, you can find one here. Refer to the Spreader Settings section above to set your spreader properly. 3) Apply to Wet Lawn: Make sure the grass is wet from dew or sprinkling before applying. This helps particles adhere to weed leaves to produce best results. For even application walk at a steady pace slightly overlapping each pass. After applying this product you don't water your lawn for at least 24 hours. Just like rain, watering your lawn after applying Weed & Feed washes the weed control particles off of weed leaves before they can fully work. 4) Clean-Up: Sweep product from hard surfaces onto the lawn to keep valuable feeding nutrients on the grass and out of storm drains.

15 lb. 5 M Turf Builder Weed and Feed is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1428.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Am seeing results in 1 day/on a never before treated lawn I am dealing with 2 acres of grass that is weed infested. This lawn was never before treated or cared for other than mowing. Previous owner had attitude of if it's green it's good. Followed directions of apply to wet lawn (rain showers) with the spreader set on 4.5 for heavier application. In less than 24 hours I am seeing results, weed leaves are curling in and are going brown. Other leaves are getting spots and are wilting. Good stuff if you ask me. New grass is not being harmed, it is 1 month old and growing quickly.

The grass is growing like crazy, it greened up and the weeds are all dying. This product is just fantastic. I used a broadcast spreader and was not careful enough to keep the fertilizer off my wife’s flowers and ended up killing a few. I think for my own safety (from my wife) I will invest in a drop spreader for better control.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Destroyed my grass, but hey, the weeds are greener than ever Destroyed my grass. Literally looks like some one set in on fire. I get that it's partially my fault ad I do have a Bermuda/ st Augustine mix, but the damage is just as bad in the Bermuda grass. You would think something that strong would at least kill the weeds right? Nope! I have bright green, healthy patches of clover ask through my scorched grass. Yes, I followed the directions, spread it on the proper settings and made sure the temp was safe. Use something else

This stuff is a weed killer in the same way that agent orange was a weed killer. It killed all the clovers and dandelions...along with everything else it touched. It's like a really lame version of the Midas Touch. I attached a picture of my lawn 1 week after use. It's pretty subtle, but see if you can tell where I used it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only made things worse. Applied early spring as directed. We only had a few dandelions here and there at the start. At first it did great, every weed died within a week. Now a month later my lawn is full of various weeds. Won't be using scotts products again.

I've been using this stuff for years with iffy results - but when they changed this formula last year and made it 2X as strong - NOW this stuff actually works. The key is to apply it to a wet lawn (like right after rain) and then hope that it rains again so it gets soaked in. I use it every 60 days or so and the lawn looks amazing. Also make sure you use a SHARP blade on your mower when you cut the grass, that makes a BIG difference too- and don;t cut your lawn so short, let it grow and thrive a bit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New home - Old lawn My lawn hasn't been touched aside from mowing in probably 10 years, maybe longer (I've only owned it for 2 of those years). I've finally gotten around to tending to my yard/weeds, and I have zero experience with fertilizers, eradicating weeds, or having a nice lawn in general. I followed the directions on the bag to a T, and had fantastic results. Dandelions have withered away. Clovers and stickers too. However, I am curious if Scott's has a product I can use to assist me in eradicating crab grass and dallisgrass? I've read I need something with quinclorac in it. I've found products by other manufacturers but I would like to remain loyal to Scott's considering the excellent weed and feed results. Also, how long should I wait to apply an herbicide/quinclorac to my lawn after applying Scott's Weed and Feed? Does the suggested 30 day's apply to this as well? Thanks Central Arkansas
