Product Details

Scotts EZ Seed Patch & Repair Sun and Shade is a revolutionary grass seeding product designed to fill in bare spots on your lawn. This Sun & Shade grass seed grows in tough conditions, including full sun, dense shade, high traffic areas and on slopes. Scotts EZ Seed Patch & Repair consists of high performance grass seed, continuous release lawn food, and super-absorbent growing mulch material. Scotts EZ Seed Patch & Repair Sun and Shade also includes a tackifier to help reduce seed wash-away and a protectant to help keep seedlings safe from harmful diseases. There are three easy steps to success: 1) prep the area by removing dead grass and loosening hard soil, 2) evenly apply EZ Seed so the area is mostly covered but bare ground is still visible, and 3) saturate with water until no more water is being absorbed and mulch turns dark brown. Plant seed in the spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 55°F and 70°F, or air temperatures between 60°F and 80°F. For best results, keep kids, pets, and lawn mowers off newly planted seedlings until the grass is 3 inches high.

          Don't waste your money
I bought a bag of this because it said it would grow anywhere. Apparently it grows anywhere but potting soil, because I filled a few small depressions in my lawn with Miracle Grow potting soil, then put the EZ seed on top. I have followed the instructions to a T. Temps have been in the low 70's, I watered it thoroughly to start and have kept it damp for 2 weeks. It looks just like the day I put it down. I'm severely disappointed.

EZ seed turned to MOSS after first year
I used EZ Seed on a few patches in my lawn that were either thin or bald in 2022, it worked well and the grass grew in without problems. Winter came and went, it’s now spring 2023, and those exact spots are now MOSS! Every single spot that has EZ seed has become moss. Will never use again, buyer beware.

VERY PLEASED! Grass growing really well
My neighbor planted grass about a week before me, he still has dirt. It's been maybe 10 days since I planted this and I've got good strong grass growth! ** This is to patch the holes left from a recent $1600 hydro-seeding a month ago. Now, knowing how good this package is, I would not have done the hydro-seeding. I cannot recommend this grass kit enough!

This is complete garbage - planted in Texas
I followed directions in the spring and laid off my lawn guy for one in a half months and all I have is 10% peach fuzz growth near May.

                    Bad batch?
I have purchased a few dozen bags throughout my time of being a home owner and never had a problem until now. The day after putting down the grass seed, my entire lawn started to turn brown and die. We had 2 companies who specifically told us it was, in fact, the grass seed that killed it. Now we are out hundreds of dollars and needing another fix for our now destroyed lawn.
