Q:Since we?ve had no ?Winter? to speak of in coastal Connecticut this year (2023) and so many perennials are emerging, is February to soon to apply Grubex? Also can it be safely applied to Hosta before emergence to avoid leaf damage later on?

A: it's been my experience that the early you apply Grub X the better. regarding hosta leaf damage I've never applied grub X to the Hosta, but i use slug control and got great results! good luck

A: Scotts GrubEx1 is not registered for use in flower gardens or around ornamentals, for lawn use only. GrubEx Should be applied prior to Memorial Day to make sure the active is washed into the soil prior to grubs hatching. Holes in hosta leaves are most often caused by slugs not grubs.
