Questions & Answers

Can this product burn or kill your yard if you apply to much.

Asked by: Rattler
I applied a "heavier" amount in certain sections of my lawn where the dandelion population was excessive. It did not produce any negative results on my lawn. But you should probably follow the directions as indicated.

What is the purpose of Zero Phosphorus?

Asked by: WillyJ
Once phosphorous is applied to the soil it can bond with other molecules to form insoluble compounds. In this form, it is virtually impossible to remove. Since many people apply "complete" N-P-K fertilizer every year, it builds up in the soil and often becomes problematic. The same sort of thing often happens with lime - annual application can make your soil too alkaline. The truth is, you should never apply anything to your soil unless you know that it needs it. The easiest way to determine this is to do a soil test. Your local Department of Agriculture will probably analyze soil samples for free or inexpensively, depending on the time of the year. Contact them for instructions and test sample boxes.

Does it kill groundsel weeds .and I need to treat 5acers

I have horses and this weed has taken over my pasture and I was told it is toxic to my horses
Asked by: Loretta
Our Turf Builder Weed and Feed cannot be used in an area animals may use to feed. We recommend keeping grazing animals from feeding in an area treated for 1 year after the application, as our herbicides are not registered for areas where grazing animals feed. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any additional help to you. Our phone number is 877-220-3089 and we ask that you please refer to your review when calling.

Can I use this while trying to reseed my pawn for some bare patches?

Asked by: Manishj
Weed controls will damage or destroy new seed. Wait until your new lawn has grown enough to have been mowed at least 4 times before using a weed control of any kind on the newly seeded area.

Customer Reviews

Turf Builder 43.07 lb. 15M Weed and Feed is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1447.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Am seeing results in 1 day/on a never before treated lawn I am dealing with 2 acres of grass that is weed infested. This lawn was never before treated or cared for other than mowing. Previous owner had attitude of if it's green it's good. Followed directions of apply to wet lawn (rain showers) with the spreader set on 4.5 for heavier application. In less than 24 hours I am seeing results, weed leaves are curling in and are going brown. Other leaves are getting spots and are wilting. Good stuff if you ask me. New grass is not being harmed, it is 1 month old and growing quickly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Destroyed my grass, but hey, the weeds are greener than ever Destroyed my grass. Literally looks like some one set in on fire. I get that it's partially my fault ad I do have a Bermuda/ st Augustine mix, but the damage is just as bad in the Bermuda grass. You would think something that strong would at least kill the weeds right? Nope! I have bright green, healthy patches of clover ask through my scorched grass. Yes, I followed the directions, spread it on the proper settings and made sure the temp was safe. Use something else

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for a healthy weed free lawn This is easy to put down, does a great job at greening up grass and controlling weeds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New home - Old lawn My lawn hasn't been touched aside from mowing in probably 10 years, maybe longer (I've only owned it for 2 of those years). I've finally gotten around to tending to my yard/weeds, and I have zero experience with fertilizers, eradicating weeds, or having a nice lawn in general. I followed the directions on the bag to a T, and had fantastic results. Dandelions have withered away. Clovers and stickers too. However, I am curious if Scott's has a product I can use to assist me in eradicating crab grass and dallisgrass? I've read I need something with quinclorac in it. I've found products by other manufacturers but I would like to remain loyal to Scott's considering the excellent weed and feed results. Also, how long should I wait to apply an herbicide/quinclorac to my lawn after applying Scott's Weed and Feed? Does the suggested 30 day's apply to this as well? Thanks Central Arkansas

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Scott's brand is losing its edge. Used to be a big fan of Scott's lawn products. Weed and feed quit killing clover and some others a few years back. Stopped using it for a few years until this year -- saw that it was "improved" with 2x power. Tried it once more -- have a Scott's spreader and followed all directions -- it killed some of the problematic weeds but did not touch my clover. High priced compared to some off-brands. Don't find it worth the money. Disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Weeds loved it. I have used this product in the past with great results. This year was a complete failure. I applied it the first time in March with no luck and again in May. The crab grass, clover and dandelions thrived on it. My lawn has never looked this bad. My only hope is that it will recover before fall.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product did not work for me As an experienced gardener, I've been using Scotts Turf Builder for years- great products. But Weed and Feed did not solve my weed problems at all. My lush green lawn was burned in several places and the weeds are flourishing! Product was applied as directed but results were not as I expected.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 2ft dandelions after 2 applications, having done this many times before, I find my yard full of 2 ft weeds. the change in the formula or whatever has happened is a joke. I will NEVER buy this product again. worthless bag of poison.
