Mine took longer than 7 days to first show signs of growth as well, although the ground began to look like it had a very slight green tint. After two weeks I began seeing signs of growth, and then after a month, I had a a growing lawn. However, it was at least 6 weeks before it was long enough to consider mowing. I know this is longer than indicated on the bag of grass seed. I think the time frames on the bag of grass seed were based upon ideal soil and growing conditions, and mine were OK but far from ideal. After a lot of watering (almost three times a day for a month and daily thereafter) and a lot of weeding as the lawn began to grow, I now have a very nice lawn.

Thank you for your interest in Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Bermuda. We don't recommend mixing grass types as it can become difficult to find products that are safe for both types. You may want to water more during the hotter months. Please call us at 877-220-3089 if you have additional questions.

The best time to seed with Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Bermudagrass is in the late spring to early summer when air temperatures are consistently between 80 and 90 degrees F. Soil temperatures need to be between 70 and 90 degrees F in order to germinate.

proper prep and water: perfect!
I had all the trees cut in front yard and spread a triaxle load of topsoil. I prepped the soil, spread seed, lime, and fertilizer on august 3. Its august 17 and i have an almost complete yard of bermuda. Make sure you prep and water often. I live in AL so perfect weather for bermuda.

More weeds than grass
I used almost 40 pounds of these seeds on a loan of 4000 sq feet during 2 months. Still have huge bare spots, lots of weed is growing instead of seeds, parts of the lawn are totally different grass growing instead of Bermuda... total disappointment

Multiple Applications Required
The photo you are seeing is a 5 week and 3 week progression of my grass seed. 1st application revealed very little. Waited 2 weeks for 2nd application. I had to use 20 lbs to gain this much coverage over the two applications and I have a very small front yard. Watered @ 2x day and applied suggested Starter Food for new grass. Major complaint is poor coverage/poor value/vast amount of weeds. There were no weeds 3 weeks prior to seed application and during these 5 weeks I have been manually pulling weeds. This is also S. Florida where we have exceptional growing conditions.

Peeps, we're sorry to hear you didn't get the results you expected after using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Bermudagrass. Weed seeds are a natural part of soils, and preparing the ground for seeding can bring them to the surface where they can germinate. Please contact us at 877-220-3089 for assistance with our product guarantee. Scotts

Grows in Texas
I'm in Austin TX, where summer temps are 100+ and it rarely rains. The seed does grow but (like most yards/plants) it requires a lot of care. I could not water it 3 times a day like the instructions recommended, so I watered it twice daily (5 am and 6pm) and it grew just fine. Just make sure it gets plenty of sun and pull weeds daily since they grow faster than the turf. I did not use the recommended starter fertilizer - I simply pulled all my weeds, aerated the dirt by hand, seeded, watered, pulled weeds again, watered, mowed, watered, pulled weeds, watered... you get the idea. A year later there is barely any weeds left and Bermuda is taking over all the bare spots. It likes the sun, it likes to be mowed low, and does not require a lot of water once established - what's there not to like about it? I hope this review helps others. The seed does grow but you will have to put in a lot of work to make it look good.

Horrible product
BEWARE WHAT IS ACTUALLY GROWING. I gave 1 star because something actually did germinate and grow. However NOT Bermuda grass. I planted it and some bare areas some for over seeding. Clump fescue grew. Just WEEDS that have invaded my Bermuda grass, where I did the over seeding and just these clump fescue WEEDS in the bear areas. I contacted Scott and they immediately offered to refund me the $33 for the 5 pounds of seed. However, WHAT ABOUT MY YARD! I am horrified it is a MESS. I have to start over. The only way to get rid of it is to kill it and sod or plant seeds. The lot # on the bag I purchased is 18020107. I find it interesting the Watersmart seed isn’t branded in the same manner in the available items for sale today. Most likely Scott’s will not post this review.

Not working for me
Prepare the ground. Cut the existing rye grass down. Dethached the yard. Three days later after heavy rain. Went back over my yard with a rake to get the remaining dead grass up to much as possible bare dirt. Used two bags(5lbs) each over 1,000sq ft along with starter fertilizer. It’s been three weeks.....in VA and weather is between 80-90 degrees. With me watering and rain it’s getting plenty of water. Have very few small places it has grown.....but 85% of the yard is still bare. Now The potential for weeds developing is a concern.
