Clover seed mix, not grass seed mix
I planted 3/4 of a bag along with Miracle-Gro top soil and got a lot of weeds and clover, centipede grass, few and far between. Don't waste your money, get sod that you can trust

    Best grass seed
I wasn’t planning To write a review. I just saw it has a low star rating overall. So I wanted to write a review now it’s been a year since I planted it. I put this seed down before spring this year. 2021 It’s now 8/21/2021 I have a lush green lawn. It took a minute it took a few months to take over to start to grow. I wasn’t sure it was going to grow. In hopes I just kept watering and keeping the ground moist. Turns out this grass is just as good as all the fertilizers. With Scott’s if you just follow the instructions you’ll get amazing results. It’s frustrating to keep it moist and keep it wet before it even starts to grow but you just need to be patient. It can take 2 months to grow. It’s so worth it. Once established it’s a tolerant grass It’s a Litte spotty. I had some trenches. That settled with all the rain and they caved In. Other than that it’s a beautifull lawn if I don’t say so myself.

The Zoysia seed was purchased to cover some bare spots in the yard. I seeds were easy to apply. I have the grass seeds before and they were a welcomed product for what I needed. The grass seeds were used last year and the spot looks great. So this year I needed to cover a few different spots and determined that this worked so well that I would use it for my bare spots. The results from my last application helped me to use this product again.

      Durable Product.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Zoysia Grass Seed and Mulch Turf Builder and I am so glad to be a recipient. This product really improved the struggling growth of my lawn. The seed's and mulch gave my grass the nutrients it needed so badly. It made my lawn appearance so much better. The grass interior of my yard was much greener and healthier. I definitely will recommend this product.

It keeps my lawn green all year.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is perfect for high foot traffic and low maintenance garden lawn. It's recommended for drought resistance area and it thrives in hot sunny and partly shaded lawn that has tall trees. I blended it on my lawn that has tiff green Bermuda but becomes dormant during cold winter season and this zoysia grass seeds will take over and blend in to cover the dormant grass area to keep my lawn green all year. I have included a YouTube video link to my backyard below.

I ordered this online to be shipped to my house because it was not in stock in my area. When it arrived there was a large hole in the top of the bag. Someone obviously knew it was there because they attempted to cover it up with a shipping sticker- but of course that didn't work because it's seed and mulch so it came off. That caused a large amount of this expensive product to be spilled during shipping. When I called Home Depot customer support they said they could refund 60% of the purchase. That still left me without enough seed for my project.. so they "kindly" ordered me MORE seed at full price. The second bag just came in today with THE EXACT SAME HOLE. I would wish I could tell you if it ever grew but I'll likely never get to that point at this rate. I will never order something like this online again.

Scott’s Zoysia grass seed is fantastic!
Scott’s Zoysia grass seed works as promised! I will show you photos of my lawn about four weeks after I seeded and then again ten weeks after seeding. I followed directions for cultivating ground and waiting until the temp was consistently warm enough and then watered once a day at minimum (unless it rained), to keep the ground moist. After two and a half months I used 40,000 gallons (approx $300) to keep the 3,500 sq feet (approx) of lawn watered. I am very pleased with the result!!

The product was delivered when it said it would be and was boxed well. lnstructions say the seed should take 2 weeks to germinate. Four weeks later, it's just beginning to pop up. My husband and I followed the directions to the t, from tilling the area and taking up the old grass and weeds to using Scotts dopper to put it out and Scotts fertlizer starter to watering twice a day. We even brought in a load of really good top soil to mix in with the existing dirt. What has come up is really sparce. I was concerned about that when I read on the bag that only 18% is seed. The very small, fine grass in the picture is the zoysia. The big grass is a weed grass that is trying to take over. It has not met my expectation. I don't recommend this product.

We are sorry that you did not get the germination that you expected from Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Zoysia Grass Seed and Mulch. This seed is considered a warm season grass and requires temperatures to be between 75-90 degrees consistently for a few weeks. We are dedicated to providing consumers with high quality products at a value price, and if we have not done that in this case, we would like to discuss this with you directly and have the opportunity to make it right for you. Requires effort, but results are great
Neighbors recommended centipede grass to me, and the Scotts one seemed to have good reviews, as the seed was coated with chemicals to help it stay moist and aid germination. When we moved into our house the center of our back yard had many pine trees which we had professionally removed (including stumps ground out) to create space for a lawn. We were left with a sandy mess covered in fragments of grass and lots of weeds. Our aim was to create a level, green lawn. The bad news - this takes work. I spent many weekends digging out roots etc over the winter and then in the spring I sprayed with roundup to kill all the remaining grass and weeds. Once this had died in around 1 to 2 weeks, I bought an electric rototiller (which I've also reviewed) to break up the sandy soil and dead weeds. I then built myself a very wide rake with a long strip of wood mounted on a long handle and dragged it around to level the yard. We had 20 yards of topsoil delivered, which I spread around 1 inch think on top of the leveled ground. Some people say to till this into the soil, but I didn't do this as I felt my seeds had more chance of staying moist and germinating in the top soil than the sand I'd be left with if I tilled in the top soil. I made sure my sprinkler system was working well and covering all areas. Better to do this before seeding than only find out there is a problem afterwards! Then I spread the seed using a hand held spreader. The recommended settings really didn't work as the seed mix tended to clump and block up the hole, but I increased its size and got a good spread going. As recommended I went north to south and then east to west, to minimize the risk of missing any spots. Then I watered... at least 3 times a day, as soil has to be moist at all times. Centipede grass is notoriously slow to germinate (often taking 3 weeks or more). However I saw shoots within a few days in a couple of places, but most of it only started coming up after 2-3 weeks, and it takes some time to thicken up. During this time weeds are also growing. This is unavoidable - eventually the centipede should crowd them out, so don't worry too much. Around 5 to 6 weeks later the grass was looking a bit of a mess as it was a mix of weeds and straggly grass seedlings. It was time for the first mow. I couldn't believe the transformation - suddenly I had a new lawn! It'll take time to establish fully (perhaps another year) but I couldn't believe how good it looked after just a couple of months.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Zoysia Grass Seed & Mulch, and appreciate your feedback.

There are many reasons your grass seed may not germinate. if your soil temperature is too low grass seed germinates best between 60 - 85 degrees f. Low nighttime temperatures can greatly slow the germinating process. Over or under watering. Its recommended to water the new seeds for 15 minutes or about 1/2 an inch in the morning and the evening to keep the seeds moist while they are germinating. After a couple of weeks change to watering1 1/2 inches every 2 to 3 days. The use of weed controls can cause germination to halt. Additionally, unfavorable soil conditions can affect germination. You can purchase a soil test kit in any hardware store to see if your soil is lacking in essential nutrients or is too alkaline or acidic.
