I would not advise that; but might be worth a try.
Get yourself some small ice melt granules then it may work with this. Anything bigger than (half pea size) will jam up the spreading wheel
Trial and error. I have used some very fine fertilizers. Just put it on low and figure it out.

It could be used with seed. but I don't know about soil unless very finely grounded.
I don't know - would have to be really fine. I think this product is really aimed at fertilizer and similar products.
