AnswersThis door has a set of aluminum channels in it. They are designed to accept a fiberglass or plastic screen that press-fits into the channels using a rubber gasket. Then you can cut the screen down to size. It is pretty easy, but see the comment on painting.
How is the screen attached to the back of this door? In one piece with a metal frame that is screwed on? Or two pieces?

AnswersThe aluminum frame that holds the screen comes in 8 pieces connected by plastic inserts that have the screw holes. The frame sits in a groove routed in the back of the door. In order to paint the door you have to remove the screws and pry out the frame (which is all of a sudden) somewhat unstable. Works, though

MY CONTRACTOR HAD A FIT AFTER OPENING THIS PIECE OF JUNK!!!!!!! HAD TO TAKE ALL APART AND RE DO EVERY NUT BOLT AND SCREW, AND THE SCREEN HAD BEEN NAILED TO THE WRONG PARTS. DRYED CAULK WAS ON EVERYTHING. I WOULD HAVE RETURNED IT, BUT THE PACKAGING HAD FALLEN APART. THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY LAST PART OF 42,000 HOUSE REMODEL A FAILURE. S.S. SPELLING IN THE DARK. MARY LOU

Or was poorly manufactured and assembled. Some of the screws intended to hold the frame together were sticking out into the screen itself. Many of the door pieces were not sanded and I completely routed.

Good door, but unpaintable
The door is well made, came early, and has worked like a charm! Met my needs really well, except with one notable exception; parts of it cannot be painted. The design is nice, with the bars on the lower half, but since they are only on one side of the screen, you cannot paint the backside of the bars without either painting through the screen or dismantling the door. This wasn't a deal breaker for me, but if you want a perfectly painted door, then skip this one.
