How many screens can be made from a screen kit?

Answer This Question

1. It only has 4 corner pieces. If you have smaller windows you can cut the 48" sides down but you'll need to buy more corners.

I bought this and need to glue it to my existing vinyl frame window. What can I use?
    ByJan 15, 2025

    Answer This Question

We don't recommend gluing as you will not be able to remove or replace. Maybe turn clips with screws? If you must glue it, use a glue that works with aluminum/metal and plastic/vinyl.

Do i have to use the tension springs?

      Answer This Question

Tension springs not only to hold position when sliding, but required for screen installation into the tracks also. Screen needs to smaller than actual width to install. The springs make up this.

      By|Aug 31, 2025

In most situations they are preferred but if the screen will stay in the opening without the tension needed to stay in the window tracks, then perhaps not. They are recommended for most window types.

Is it one full piece of 48” or 4 frame pieces of 48” and 4 corner brackets ? Can we get the custom size cut at home depot?

          Answer This Question

This kit comes with 4 48" frames, tension springs, corners, pulls tabs and spline, re-rolled into channels (remove before screening). You will need to cut to fit your window sizes. Follow directions on packaging. No custom sizes can be cut by store. You will customize by the cuts you make.

            Flimsy Garbage
I followed the instructions and used a hack saw which bent the frame as I cut it. That was on me. I was able to fix the bent pieces, until I put the screen material in and realized the screen was so flimsy that it bent when I tried putting it in the window and there was no way to get all four corners to fit where they were supposed to. Spend the extra few dollars and get something that isn’t as cheaply made. The only thing good about this was it was easy to put together, minus the material.

Waste of time and money. Frame not strong enough to withstand installation!
After much time and paying separately for screen, the frame bent while trying to insert the corner on top of spring, AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE. So the cheap frame is not strong enough to withstand nor designed to fit correct installation? Entire frame and screen now useless. Cheap cheap cheap. What a scam! Also $4 more EACH in Oregon than in NM!

                Frame ripped when inserting corner
The assembly instructions do not include any mention of the springs that are to be inserted in the side opposite the pull tabs. But I inserted the springs anyway. Which then made it impossible to insert the corner pieces by hand. The first corner was installed, but require the use of a hammer. So far, so good. The other corner, however, ripped open the frame as I tried to insert the corner. Substantially less than amused. I give this product a 1 because 0 is not available.

Very flimsy--screen material bends the frame
These frames are so thin that tension on the screening material bends all four sides of the frame. These are terrible frames.

I had a couple of smaller windows than needed the screens replaced. As these were available in the store, I purchased this kit. Putting it together was relatively easy. I did have to cut it down to the proper size with a hacksaw. After installing the netting, I realized that the black plastic tabs on the sides (for installation and removal of the screen) were very loose and prone to coming out during installation into the window. I tried to get the tabs to stay put by pushing the plastic/rubber strip into the groove tighter, but this didn’t help. I even used a screwdriver to try to get it in there to retain the tabs. The problem is that when the tabs come out, the screen comes with it. I think they need to supply a different kind of tab (like those on factory screens) or they need to redesign the way the tab fits into the groove and gets retained so that they stay put. I think that if this kit was the only option, I would use them but if there is an alternative available (such as a new-factory screen), I would opt for that first.

The store only had this size in stock. I had to cut all four pieces to fit my windows. I liked that it had all pieces that were needed for the screen. The only problem was that I had to purchase screen to go in the frame.

Cheaply made, warps of pulled tight
This kit is trash. I can confirm what other reviewers are saying. If you pull your screen tight (which you should always do when you’re installing screens, the frame bends from the tension, rendering the screen pretty much useless. Save your money and buy something else.
