Questions & Answers

Could this product be sprayer or brush applied to a deck over a semi transparent toner giving toner adaquate curing time

Looking to extend deck toner life
Asked by: willie
Thank you for reaching out, Willie! Rust-Oleum Seal-Krete Multi-Surface Water Repellent is suitable for use over pressure-treated decks. We do not recommend it for use over oil-based stains, acid-based stains or two part water-based or solvent-based epoxy coatings. To ensure the best results, we recommend using a roller or pump sprayer to apply this product!

Can this be used on an in interior exposed brick wall? & will it change the appearance of the brick after application?

Asked by: Mike
I have used this product on all different surfaces. I've had no problems with it changing color on any painted surface. If you are using it for a primer, why not use a primer. If using it for a water sealer,I dont't know if it will work for that.

Sealing Driveway Brick Pavers in Florida

Is this product designed for use on exterior brick pavers? If so, what is the application procedure and how will it perform in Floridian sun and rain? Also, is it a true clear finish when dry or does it leave a milky or spotty finish as some competitive brands have a tendency to do. Finally, what is the slip-coefficient when wet? If this is not a suitable product, please advise as to what will work. Thanks
Asked by: Scott
This is Excellent for pavers. I live in Florida and my home has pavers for driveway and side walks. I applied this in 2004 and 13 years later they look like they were just laid yesterday. Goes on milky white but dries clear. Not slippery when wet. Just make sure the pavers are clean and dry before you apply. Best to apply when pavers are freshly laid. This will keep the color from fading for years.

does wood has to be completely dry before appling

Asked by: thunder
For best results, yes. If there is excess moisture in the wood, it will be trapped by the sealer and show up as cloudy areas under the sealer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great both indoors and outdoors I'm extremely happy with this product. It was originally purchased for outdoor concrete, but the label said it was good for both in and outdoors. So I used it indoors and it worked just as good as stuff I've used in the past for twice the price. I installed it with a garden sprayer and "backrolled" it with a mop.

I used this at my first home that had brick pavers for a driveway and side walks. This was in 2004 and 13 years later they still look great! No mildew, no fading. Its night and day difference from my neighbors that was not treated. They look black and dingy and full of mildew and mine look like they just laid the pavers yesterday. Great Product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from .Excellent dust proofer for my driveway My driveway had never been sealed but has always been dusty. Continued Pressure washing was just eating away at the finish so I needed something to help control this. I called the factory and spoke to Kevin who is super knowledgeable and told me how to prepare the driveway and apply the product. Works fantastic

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice sealant this product worked well for exactly what I wanted, sealing flagstone. easy to apply, dried promptly and worked very well, especially after 2 coats. not so good on concrete but that material is so much more porous.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far okay So far this product is performing as expected. Have yet to find a product that truly waterproofs concrete. I will update this rating in about six months if there is a change. Product is $3 cheaper at WalMart

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Beads up...but doesn't waterproof that well I used this product on newly poured concrete cured for 30+ days. I cleaned the concrete with a soft brush and very light soap (in water) and rinsed it very well. I applied the product about 36 hours later when the concrete was comp0letely dry and gave it a good sweep right before applying the sealer. I applied the sealer using a tank sprayer but I brushed over it with a paint brush to make sure it was evenly applied and I applied a thick layer for each coat. I applied 2 coats and waited about 4 hours after the first coat to apply the second coat (yes, the first coat was completely dry when I applied the second coat). Problem is, now when I apply water to my "sealed" concrete (or after it rains), the water does in fact bead up, however, after about 1-2 hours, the beaded/standing water starts to penetrate through the sealer and into the concrete. So what you get is concrete that has a bunch of wet spots on it. These wet spots can take 1-4 days do dry up depending on temperature, humidity, direct sunlight, etc. because those spots are actually under the sealer. Since those wet spots take so long to dry up since the water is now under the sealer, I am worried that this may actually aid in degrading the concrete rather than protecting it. While I am going to give it another 1 or 2 coats to see it that fixes the problem, I have my doubts. However, even if it does solve the problem, having to put down 3-4 coats (or who knows, maybe even more!) becomes a costly endeavor. Also, if I do put more coats down, I can't wash the concrete because it will stay wet for too long if want to apply the sealer the next day. I can only sweep it very well and hope for the best. Because of this, I would have recommend looking into some other sealer product, unfortunately.
