good hardware, software needs fixing
Setting up this class of product is always a pain, and this one is no different, although in this case there should be no reason for it. Downloading the app is free and easy. It offers several different ways to set up the camera, and hand-holds you through them, and if you go this route, you will never succeed. The app's built-in instructions are vague and incomplete. Ignore the built-in help, and go to the manual to find the 'secrets'. The sad thing is, if the app didn't lead you down the wrong path, setting this camera up would be a snap. Anyway, if you've read this review, it should save you a lot of frustration. I almost gave up. As far as the Android app programmer expecting you to read his mind, that is typical for Android apps. Someone other than the programmer needs to test this software. Most Android apps are pretty lousy and unpolished, and you just have to poke at them until you get them to work. It's a bad state of affairs for the entire platform; I hope IOS users have a better experience. Android apps are usually updated at a furious rate, and most of my complaints here could be fixed before this review is a month old. On the plus side, I have not seen the app crash yet. Points to the manufacturer for putting the user manual online as a downloadable PDF. I don't even try to hang on to paper manuals any more, I have just too many, but it is easy to store pdfs on the computer, and even put copies on my Android devices, where I can actually use them. The manual is fairly scanty and slightly confusing, but without it, you are going nowhere. It describes buttons that are not labeled as such, you have to guess, but that's not hard, since there are only two buttons. There is no description of how to use the reset button, and there are several possibilities for how it might work. Once I got the camera working, I found it to be surprisingly good. I set it out in the back yard for a test, and I was amazed what it could see by moonlight and IR. In the morning, the picture was even better. Frame rate is about 15 FPS, fast enough to see birds fly by. There is no zoom, but at 720p there is a good deal of detail, and you can easily see things in the distance. Colors are excellent for a device like this, and the sound seems fairly sensitive as well. I can hear birds singing during the day, and I could see bats flying at night. The control functions are not finely continuous, the camera responds to swipes on the screen by panning 1/2 screen width or height. It would be nice to have finer pan and tilt control, like keep your finger on the screen, and have continuous control. The camera responds inconsistently to commands. For example, swiping up causes the camera to pan up, but swiping left causes the camera to pan right. ?????? Long swipes are ignored, only short 1/2" swipes are recognized. Sometimes the camera starts ignoring you, but a touch on the reset icon gets it going again. None of these issues are show-stoppers, but they should be addressed in future versions. The microphone icon lets you talk through the camera like an intercom. A touch on the camera icon takes a snapshot to your local device. The location where the files are saved is invisible to Mac Android File Transfer. The app will write to cloud storage, which I find useless, but there is no way to set the location so you could write to a removable card, which would be very useful. Videos are stored on the camera's card. You can reformat (erase) it remotely. Videos can be played-back remotely, but there is no way to download them, you would have to go to the camera and pull the card. That might require a ladder. All of this is totally half-baked. I finally managed to pry some snapshots off my tablet in a roundabout way so I could post some examples here. There are two versions of each: one is full-frame and was resized by Home Depot, the other was cropped to Home Depot's size, so should be pixel-for-pixel. The videos are actually much sharper than the stills, the jpeg compression level is much too high. The good hardware is being ruined by really awful software. I set Motion Detection to high and turned on Notifications, and began to be bombarded with Android Notifications every time there was a gust of wind. I expected that. I set Motion Detection to low, and it became much more reasonable. Remember, this camera is for indoor use, and I am testing it outside, where there are a multitude of distractions. I'd say both those features work well. I have connected two Android devices to it simultaneously, and it responds to both. Simultaneous commands are ignored - well, what would you expect? The manual feels unfinished. For example, sometimes there is a red bulls-eye in the upper right corner of the screen. What is it? There is absolutely no mention of it. Touching it makes it blink. I am 99% sure it is the 'Record' control. The user manual must think that's obvious. That's not how a user manual is supposed to work. I installed a 32GB microSD card ( that is the limit ) and the camera has made a number of recordings on it that are probably the result of my playing with the mystery record button. The rest of the camera's features are well-described, I think? There is no way to turn off the IR lights, there should be, otherwise the camera will blind itself trying to look through a window. And like I said earlier, what are you supposed to do with the reset button? Build quality is all-plastic, rather toy-like. In fact, it looks a lot like a Star Wars character. It's kind of cute as it goes through its start-up gymnastics. Keep your kids away from it, if they twist the head around a few times, they will strip the gears. I've been putting it through its paces, and so far no problems with the mechanism. A security camera isn't much use if it is within reach. So in summary, the hardware looks good. Very good image quality, day and night, and good sound too. The software is ... hire new programmers. The software and firmware are functional but need to be a lot better. I could take one or two rough edges, but I found problems everywhere. Version as of writing is 6.0.2, firmware 1.2.9. The manual needs to be finished as well. These are all things that can be addressed by the manufacturer and pushed out in future updates. I'd say it is a good camera that can get a lot better. Despite all my grousing, I can still recommend this camera hardware, as all the software faults can be fixed if the manufacturer cares. Maybe the things that bug me won't bug you. I would say wait until a few months after this review. Download the CameraLive app to your phone now, and when it hits version 7, you can buy this camera.

Works with my Security System
The SecurityMan DIY wireless/wired IP Pan-Tilt indoor ISECURITY Camera with SD recorder was something I added to my SecurityMan DIY Alarm System. Installation of the camera to the security system was very easy. I took about 10 minutes to install via the APP on my android product. The Camera lets me see what's going on when the alarm is activated. The picture quality is pretty good and also has night vision capabilities. I can access the camera anytime using the APP. The camera can also be used wired to a computer using the provided cable. Happy with this product!

Love the pan feature!
The build quality of this camera is great. It is a little on the bulkier side compared to the other IP cameras I've used, but this is mostly due to the inbuilt motor for panning. Setup of this camera on my android phone was a bit tedious and it took me a while before I could get it in sync with my phone. Once you are hooked up to your home's Wi-Fi things are easier. There is also an option to plug this using a LAN cable, but that would just beat the purpose of a wireless camera. The video quality is decent for an entry level camera. I really loved the pan feature to control the direction of the camera. This has an internal motor you can pan the camera using your cell phone to either direction you want. This would also make a great baby monitor since you transfer audio to and from the camera. The video quality in night vision does not disappoint at all. Overall, despite some minor flaws I would definitely recommend this camera.

Decent plug in, indoor, Wifi, starter camera with free app
The SecurtyMan App based Pan-tilt iSecurity WiFi camera for Smartphone and Tablet is a nifty starter camera. It allows me to keep tabs on the house and the pets while away. It monitors both video and audio. It took about 5-7 minutes to download the free app for iPhone, screw in the antenna, plug it into an outlet, and sync everything with Wifi. Then, I was up and running. I can monitor in real time or use a micro SD card (not included) to monitor recorded motion events. The motion sensitivity is very sensitive and even on the low setting I was so overwhelmed by the number of push notifications that I turned them off (perhaps we have mice because I don't see anything moving in the videos). This camera is for indoor use only and the night vision works well (up to 33 feet). If you plan to monitor what's happening outside (i.e., through a window), it will work during daylight hours (if there's no screen), but night vision will not work through glass. The camera does NOT have internal storage, so I purchased an inexpensive 32gb (that's the max), class 10 (camera accepts class 6 or higher) micro SDHD card to record motion events. Strangely, this camera allows you to take pictures directly yo your phone while monitoring in real-time, but it doesn't allow you to capture a single image from recorded video. Resolution is decent at 720, but 1080 and 4K is the latest technology . This is a slightly bulky, plastic camera and reminds me of a PC camera from the last decade (before cameras were standard on computers and TVs). For the size of this camera, it should also have zoom. It's nice to be able to pan left/right, up/down, but sometimes you need to be able to zoom. I haven't needed to use the microphone/speaker yet but it would be handy to talk to someone in the house (repair person, babysitter, dog walker, or in-laws). Overall, this is decent for a starter camera.

I turned my SecurityMan into a Bunny Cam
I Love my APP based pan-tilt isecurity wifi camera! Weighs not quite 3 lbs, Powered by DC 5 V. Power Consumtion is maximum 5 W and is WIFI enabled. Light Srnsor and Night Vision is also provided. Easy follow instructions ables you to download the app so you can view (in my case) my new bunny rabbit 24/7, I'm in Love! While viewing the screen on your phone or tablet your able to touch screen and watch the camera pan to the location you desire to view, 120° From top to bottom or 260° From left to right. Your smartphone is your remote, Viewing angle is 50° and the view is crystal clear! Microphone ables to hear sounds while the SD card records (playback is available) also allows you to speak into the app and your hear from the others end, so microphone works both ways. Simply place a SD micro memory card (not included) into the back of the unit and record. This camera works on wifi so no need to have it hard wired to your computer but is an option with the provided Ethernet cord that is included. Mound the camera to where ever you choose and watch your home from where ever you are. (Mounding hardware is included) With SecurityMan you are aware of what is happening in your home when you are not home. Feel Safe, Be Smart but in my case I use my Smart Man to watch over the newest member in my home, my Smartman is allowing me to have fun! I would have given this camera 5 stars if the camera panned following the image opposed to me finding the moving image. An alert does sound alerting you there is activity. I love the ease and convienence of my Smart Man iSecurity Camera

Super control of motion and sound
This security camera has a VERY clear LIVE view capability with the ability to adjust the camera through the phone App and to communicate VERY clearly with the built in microphone. I was very impressed with the night vision as well, as the camera provides very clear lighting in darkness. I am able to receive real-time alerts through my iPhone 6Splus, which downloaded the App easily. It took me some time to find the App although it was clearly noted in the user's guide. It must be searched for in ALL CAPS. The CAMERALIVE App is the only one that seems to work well with this model. The camera activates with motion and responds very well to my pet cat who I monitor throughout the day. This camera is able to work with WiFi or with direct Ethernet access. I tested it both ways in two different locations in my home. The set up video posted shows the camera's ability to move and can be set for low, medium or high motion detection. The camera easily moves when using the phone App to follow or direct the camera with a simple swipe on the phone screen. The camera does require a MICRO SD card for recording, otherwise it is just a LIVE camera feed that can be monitored on the phone. I am using this for a pet monitor, but this camera could be used for many different types of security functions or even for a baby monitor. I rated this product a 4-star because I had to purchase the micro SD card and it was not included. The camera also comes with a mounting bracket if desired.

This camera was easy to setup. I downloaded the app and it has some cool features like pan and tilt, remote viewing, and remote speaking. I added a memory card so I could record and review video events triggered by motion while we're away. Unfortunately, in a little over a year, the camera is having connectivity issues. When I try to connect to the camera with the app, it says "unable to connect." I've reset and reconnected it to wi-fi and then it works for a little while. Then same issue. After a few times of resetting/reconnecting, and moving it closer to the router, I ran out of patience. This is a poorly made product. Save your money!

Software does not allow for manual configuration where a fixed IP can be assigned. So every time you have to reboot the network the camera has to be re-setup. The camera software is buggy and crashes a lot. Spotty operation when you are off the wireless and trying to access the camera remotely. Was consistently having to reconfigure the camera. Also when using the Homebot software it was only working about half the time. Camera price is to high and it mobility is very slow and camera is way to large.

Thank you for your feedback. We value all our customers comments/suggestions and take them into consideration when developing future products.

To make it easier for setup and functionality we did eliminate the static IP option for this model. We do have more advanced systems which will allow you to assign static IP address which can be found on the Home Depot website as well.
