Home Depot does still sell this product, however the COVID-19 virus is causing severe supply shortages across the wood/lumber industry in general and the hardwood flooring industry has not been immune. Summer 2021 should see a return to some normalcy for production and inventory supplies for this product and many others. Thank you for your patience!
Thank you for the feedback Joe. The primary description does state this product is random length, but we will make a change to the bullet point regarding average length; should state 33" average and 84" longest length. Thanks again and good luck with your project.
About a foot, but not many that short. I learned floor laying when long pieces were desirable and still carry that through my work ( though I haven't laid a floor for three years and am basically retired). I save short pieces for halls and closets.
Each bundle is approximately 7" wide, 4" high and 84" long
The product has square edges.
All 4 sides of each board are tung and grove. you will cut the edge to fit against the wall.
That is not how common oak flooring is graded. Here are the grades Select No. 1 No. 2 no.3 In my personal opinion grades 2 and 3 are firewood, but some call it character I just call it firewood. If you go on line to NOFMA..... national oak flooring manufacturing Association they will explain grading.
You should expect that about 55 may have blemishes that make the pieces undesirable. Actually, many people seek out these blemished pieces to "prove" that this is real wood. If you have a piece with a knot that is perforated, you should cut out the knot and use the piece on an edge or end since it won't have the grooves on your cut line.
Yes and why not just buy pre-finished oak hardwood flooring instead. It is easier to sand and finish once installed.
Yes, you can use either an oil or water base stain. No offense, why would you want to paint it, showing the grain of the wood is preferred. Min Wax makes nice product. I haven't used the Varathan product.
