Sevin is a product that I grew up using on the garden, flowers and fruit tree for over 50 years. The product kill insects on contact the product is not absorbed into the plant or distributed through the plant's systems. I use this all summer as it is very effective and washes off of any vegetables or fruit. We use it on early mid and late season. Note plum tree, grape vines, tomato plants, rose bushes, etc. This container has an easy to use cap. You can simply point and press to get to get a dusting, be sure to be up wind so it does not blow back in your face. GREAT product easy to use.

Sevin-brand sulfur dust is a staple for ridding home gardens of unwanted pests. I typically use it on vegetables when other organic pesticides will not do the job. I really like the 1.25 lb container because it’s easy to hold and the small opening on the flip-top lid allows me to dispense the right amount of dust on each plant. It’s also conveniently sized so that you can hold it in one hand and use the other to hand to hold plant leaves and spray underneath.

This bottle poofs out the dust easily because there is a long tube attached to the lid. It suggests shaking the bottle to aerate the powder before opening the lid and squeezing the bottle. When the bottle is almost full, I found that holding it horizontal works best so that the end of the tube is not buried deep in the dust. You definitely want to choose a time with no wind. Also, I wore a face mask. Actually, after blowing the sevin dust onto my young myrtle tree, I didn’t feel confident that I had gotten full coverage. Therefore, a few days later I mixed some sevin with water and used my 2-gallon sprayer (with a hand pump). I used this mixture to cover that young myrtle (which has signed of white mildew), my potted tomato plants as a preventative measure, and three solanum jasminoides potato vines that are just generally struggling in this climate. I feel confident that the spray covered the leaves well. It was easy to unscrew the lid (I was worried that I would have to pry it off); however, the shape of the bottle makes it kind of difficult to dip my measuring spoon inside. I think it is working. I didn’t conduct a controlled experiment to confirm that the treated plants are doing better than untreated plants, but I don’t see mildew on my Myrtle (I cut off the effected branches before applying the Sevin powder).

I’ve been using this as a preventative bug deterrent for a couple days and so far so good. The plants look great and no visible bugs, disease or infection. I am in the beginnings of spring so plants are just going in the ground. Things I’ve liked so far. It’s easy to apply, the smell is pretty much non existent. I did not use the dust in an area my dogs could access but it does say that it’s people and animal safe after it has settled. My tip to you, check the wind direction before squeezing!

This is the fourth product I've tried. The first year I planted some sweet peppers and tomatoes was a great success. Planted seeds from kitchen scraps and everything grew. I had plenty of fruit and healthy plants. Even though I was not an attentive gardener. The second season started well with strong healthy sprouts but the the insects found my little garden. Aphids, little white ones slamming my plants. And this year worms as well! So I dusted my damaged plants with this Sevin product and the destruction seems to have stopped. Now maybe they can make a comeback?

I recently got this product. Last year we had a problem with spiders, aphids and grubs so I am hopeful this will alleviate the pest infestations. So far, our garden is just starting for the season and I have not had time to use it. The instructions are divided into types of plants, target pests and amounts to use for each type. Mixing the dust with a gallon of water seems simple enough.

Very effective bug and insect repellant and killer. Let me first begin by saying I love the small pop top dispenser opening on the bottle. It keeps you from wasting the product. With the small opening, you simply squeeze the bottle over whatever you are trying to apply it to. Found that it was very effective in ridding some shrubbery eating insect I had next to my back porch. Was finding holes eaten into my leaves. Simply squirted some over the shrubbery, and let the Sevins dust do it's job. Within days, I stopped noticing holes eaten on the shrubbery. Also, it did not bother either of my dogs. As a matter of fact, within minutes, both my dogs was running through the exact shrubbery I put the sevins dust on. Without a doubt, I would definitely recommend the product.

I like the way they spell out the proper proportions of product and water to mix. it seems to me that it goes further than dusting especially if there is any breeze at all. Dusting seem to be kind of hit or miss. I haven't decided whether it's better to use a tank sprayer or a hand held squirt bottle. I'm also glad they state a how to use around pets.

Sevin Sulfur dust does a great job at preventing / treating the diseases listed on on the container. In particular, powdery mildew is my biggest problem. One day the veggies are fine, the next morning, there are 1/4" white spots on the leaves. The mildew really hits the squash, zucchinis, and cucumbers. I find it is best to treat before the "normal time" that mildew appears - when it is hot and humid all night in central Texas. The Sevin sulfur dust is easy to use. Open the cap, tip the bottle so that the powder drops to the end, then barely below a horizontal level, give it a squeeze for a puff. White powder air comes out. If you point the bottle down to much, you may get a heavier dose of powder. I usually treat around the base of the plant (see video). On average, I might use this once per year, sometimes twice. It works. I treated my 4 raised garden beds this morning. The bottle has a label that unfolds and shows numerous veggies, diseases and pests that can be treated.
