Questions & Answers

Is it fire retardant

Asked by: ruf
The manual warns to not build fires under the canopy, so it is unlikely it is fire retardant.

When setting up do I have to attach the canopy roof or is it already attached while it is being stored?

Asked by: Jen
You put it on after opening the frame and before extending the legs to full height. You can leave the roof on after attaching it initially, but it is so easy to put on and holds tight with velcro that I just take it off and store separately. You do not want to leave it on especially if it is damp. Let it dry first.

ST100 10 ft. x 10 ft. Blue Instant Canopy is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Frame is not sturdy I bought this a month ago. I used canopy weights to hold the legs stable. When we were putting it up, I noticed that the frame seemed very flimsy - I could bend the legs with my bare hands. The canopy didn't stay on the frame very well. Other canopies I've used have Velcro or ties to fasten the canopy. It went through a couple or rainy days; the water pooled in the canopy but I was able to empty it. Yesterday I came home and the thing was collapsed. The frame was twisted and one brace was sheared. It wasn't windy yesterday but it did rain. The metal frame is toast. Not happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough and withstands the elements! We bought our canopy over ten years ago. I used it for a cover while selling fruits and veggies at a Farmer's Market. It ended up in storage for a few years after that. Since then, we have moved and set it up outside our trailer. ( We now live in our trailer.) We've had it set up for the past two years. It has withstood, two winters! And done a fabulous job shading us in the summer. I love this canopy and highly suggest you buy this brand. It is tough and durable. Held up in two feet of snow. You do have to shake the snow off....Duh! We staked it down for the winds and haven't even had a tear. The rains are nothing to worry about. We will buy another one, in a heartbeat, should we ever need another. <3

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lasted 1 month.... I was out to dinner and came home to a clasped canopy. Water pooled and destroyed it. Wasted $99.98.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from BUYER BEWARE - Water RESISTANT, NOT Water PROOF! Me: Unbox & erect canopy. Rainwater pooled on canopy. Thin canopy material saturated. Water dripped inside canopy. Bravo: All of the pop-up canopies comes with water resistant tops only. The canopy is designed for temporary sun shade only. It's only water resistant so it needs immediate attention when it's raining as it's not waterproof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Canopy! Bought this tent a few days ago - really pleased with it. Very easy set up, nice head room, sturdy frame. Wanted it mostly for shade, but when it decided to rain it kept us perfectly dry with no leaks. Looks really nice on the outside too with just a small logo on the one side. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect shade over my deck I bought this at a Home Depot, hoping it would fit on my tiny beck in my tiny inner-city back yard. There are no trees and no other sources of shade, I sunburn badly, plus my disabled daughter can't be in direct sunlight, as this triggers her seizures.Without shade we cant sit outside, so this is important to me. I followed directions and put the canopy up by myself in less than 15 minutes. I'm a 5'2" tall 64 year old woman, and I found it fairly easy. It works perfectly for my purposes and is sturdy and stable. It handles even heavy rain with no problems. When high winds come, rather than take it down, I just lower the entire canopy using the leg extension buttons. For a reasonable price and a little effort, my daughter and I are enjoying the outdoors in the shade. And

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Portable Shade but BEWARE of Wind & Rain! I purchased the ShadeTech Canopy about 3 yrs ago and have used it about a dozen times as a temporary canopy at group functions in various locations and family gatherings in the backyard. The wheeled storage bag works extremely well and makes transport so easy. Overall, the canopy works just as promised but I advise caution in hopes a user will not make the HUGE mistake I made. Do not firmly stake this canopy and leave it up in a strong wind or rain storm. I left mine up overnight after a backyard function. The legs were anchored in the ground with 12" nail spikes thru the holes in the footing. Strong winds came in with a mild rain and completely wrecked the frame. It bent the expandable sides and wrenched off the tops of two of the frame poles. A complete disaster and beyond repair. I believe had I not staked it so firmly it would have simply blown over and the frame might have survived. Instructions in the Owner's Manual clearly advise not to use it in rain or wind. Heed that. Also, the canopy fabric is not at all waterproof as another Reviewer mentioned. It will also collect a heavy pool of water near the expandable side rails and that adds weight to the frame. All in all a good product. Recommended.
