SharkBite Push-to-connect polybutylene fittings are the fastest way to transition from polybutylene pipe to PEX, copper, CPVC, PE-RT, or HDPE pipe. No soldering, clamps, unions, glue, or special tools are required. Simply insert the pipe, and the teeth bite down and grip tight, while a specially formulated O-ring compresses to create a watertight seal. The fitting has a gray collar for the polybutylene pipe and a tan collar for all CTS (copper tube size: PEX, copper, CPVC, PE-RT, HDPE) pipes. Changes can easily be made by rotating the fitting after installation. Removing the fitting is just as fast using a disconnect tool so fittings and valves can be easily changed or reused. Designed with stainless steel gripping teeth for a secure connection, a chlorine-resistant O-ring for a long-lasting seal, and backed by a 25-year warranty.

Q:I had no idea they have different colors based on piping type. I have an old mobile home and the existing piping is black plastic of some sort. I need to change out and go to PEX. What colors to use?

Works great so far, no leaks (been 2 mos). Needs to look up manual online to push in correctly within the 1inch mark. Haven't tried to disconnect it with the ring yet, hopefully will be no problem. The pipe to be connected have to be cut really straight perpendicularly or it will get stuck. Great product overall. Hopes this line continues in the future since some homes may still have polybutylene pipes. I bought one in reserve just in case it's discontinued.

To much money. Plastic tubing will probably need to be replaced once it starts to deteriorate into your water supply
