Product Details

SharkBite Push-to-connect PVC transition fittings are the fastest way to transition from PVC or IPS (iron pipe size) pipe to PEX, copper, CPVC, PE-RT, or HDPE pipe. No soldering, clamps, unions, glue, or special tools are required. Simply insert the pipe, and the teeth bite down and grip tight, while a specially formulated O-ring compresses to create a watertight seal. The fitting has a white-collar for the PVC pipe and a tan collar for all CTS (copper tube size: PEX, copper, CPVC, PE-RT, HDPE) pipes. Changes can easily be made by rotating the fitting after installation. Removing the fitting is just as fast using a disconnect tool so fittings can be easily changed or reused. Designed with stainless steel gripping teeth for a secure connection, a chlorine-resistant O-ring for a long-lasting seal, and backed by a 25-year warranty.
  • Compatible with schedule 40, 80, 120 PVC pipe
  • Push-to-connect fittings are ideal for installation in tight spaces
  • Rated to 200 degrees Fahrenheit and 200 PSI

  • Low-lead DZR corrosion-resistant brass body
  • PVC end of fitting (white-collar end) can be removed with PVC disconnect clip (UIP710, UIP712, UIP714)

These shark bites are worth the money. They are super easy to use and mean less leaks overall. My husband uses these all throughout our house and we don't have to use the delicate plumbers tape because these grip so tightly. I wish more of these were sold in the actual stores instead of having to purchase online and wait for them to ship. We typically purchase in a few more than we need so they are on hand.

I & my plumber friends have been using this style of connector for a few years now and we love them! No more carrying around a tank of gas, no more worrying about catching something on fire, no more flux & solder....you get the idea! I keep a bunch of different connectors in my truck and I'm in & out in sometimes a quarter of the usual time. In my area we have a lot of acid in the water & older homes and I'm always getting calls to fix pinhole leaks. This style of connector is cool as you don't have to make sure every last drop of water is out of the pipe before making the connections like when soldering. They are a god send in crawl spaces too! The instructions say not to use a hacksaw to cut the pipe. I love that they are brass and the acidic water doesn't effect them like copper & that they are removable, so if there is a leak further down the line it can be removed to add a longer piece of pipe.

I don't know how long this type of conversion coupling has been around, however it is something that can be a needed plumbing part. This SharkBite connector is a high quality brass fitting. It connects two different material types of piping. This coupling is the one inch size. There are smaller size connectors also available in 1/2 and 3/4 inch. This push to connect system is a very easy connection product. No tools needed. When pipe is inserted and given a little push it stays securely and does not leak. No additional tape, glue, solder or anything else to make it work. It can also be disconnected and reused by pushing in the plastic collars that stick out. There is a C shaped tool that can push in the collar and the pipe will slide out.

I got introduced to shark bite products a couple years ago when I was having a bathroom remodeled and all the plumbing reworked. The quality I saw then made a believer out of me. I had an old connection on a plumbing line break loose and do some damage and since then I look for the best quality plumbing connectors and fittings I can lay my hands on. That is an area where you simply do not skimp. So keeping some shark bite fittings on hand for repairs or modifications is always a good idea and you just cannot go wrong with them. I find them easy to get a solid fit on. This 1 inch connector is no exception. It gets quite the good grip when you seat everything in it. These are simply hard to beat and easy to use. Just make sure your pipe is clean and you make a clean cut and that you are ready for it to stay put when you slide things together.

Recently the underground water pipe from my water meter in front of my house to my house broke apart. It is PVC pipe underground and connects to copper pipe when it comes up out of the ground. The Sharkbite Push-to-Connect conversion coupling was the perfect fix. It didn’t require soldering, clamps, unions or glue. Just insert the pipe and the stainless steel teeth bite down and grip tight, while a specially formulated O-ring compresses to create a perfect seal. The main thing is that the pipe you insert into the adapter is clean and free of burrs. The white collar side of the coupling fits Sch. 40, 80, 120 PVC and also can be used on IPS CPVC Sch. 40 and Sch. 80 pipes. The mustard collar side fits CTS Copper, PEX, CPVC or PE-RT pipe. It eliminates the problems associated with sweating copper pipes. No gluing eliminates the possibility of the glue joint separating in hot and/or cold climates. Disassembly is just as fast using the appropriate size Sharkbite disconnect tool so fittings and valves can be easily changed and reused.

The push fit connectors are wonderful products for DIY people and home repairs. The best tip I can provide is to make sure the pipe is cleaned with a little sand paper, maybe 200 grit, and then use a spare towel to clean off anything else. After the prep work is done, simply slide on to connect. You can use these to connect to PEX, CPVC, PE-RT or Copper. The extra cost of these parts are made up in time and convenience.

          SHARKBITE BRAND MAKES IT EASY
If you do any plumbing at all...from DIY to professional and you haven't tried SharkBite products, do yourself a favor and at least try them. I have been using them for years and they pass the test of time. They make plumbing tasks easy and they don't leak (if installed properly). Follow the instructions that are incredibly easy. Cut your copper, PEX or PVC pipe square, clean off any burrs, and make a mark 1" from the end of the pipe to ensure you have pushed it in far enough. Then simply push to connect. It's that easy. If you make a mistake on placement or orientation you can use the simple tool to remove or reposition the valve. You can even reuse the valve on another project. I have installed numerous connections with this excellent product and will continue to because it is so easy and so practical. I have talked to other plumbers who also swear by the SharkBite brand.
