Absolutely.

is it freeze resistant, will it freeze up and bust

The best at freeze resistance. The guy that installed mine used to be in North Dakota and saw exposed pex down to -12, swollen, but did not bust. When the temp went back up, pex went back to normal size. Mine is 2' under ground, but where I live it would probably be safe above ground.

What is the weight of the 500' coil?

Very light. Can carry under one arm easily.

I just installed PEX in a total house re-pipe. Tenant now says water smells and taste like plastic! What can be done to remove smell and taste?

With all new piping systems there is a chance there could be a small odor or taste initially. This usually goes away within a few days.

Can this water line be buried and UV tolerant as well

Asked by Digger August 17, 2017

Answer

Yes, SharkBite PEX pipe is approved to AWWA C904 which covers PEX pipe in regards to burial. Be sure to check with local, city or state codes to see if the pipe needs to have sleeves or any type of protective burial for your area. PEX pipe can be used as a service line based on its corrosion resistance to soil and water, its long life, and its oxidative resistance. No, PEX pipe is not approved for continuous UV exposure. PEX pipe should not be stored in direct sunlight. If you have further questions, please contact Customer Service M-F, 8am-5pm at (877) 700-4242.

Awesome product, price and delivery. Replaced my old pvc water supply line from meter to the house with this pex. Now, it is 400' with no joints of a material that will never freeze and bust. It is amazing to me that this entire length has no connecting joints except to the meter and the inside of my house. Joints are always the first to break.

Used for water main. I found it easier the stretch out the length of the run and strighten it out rather than try to unroll. I also ran it through 1 1/4" PVC to giv a little more protection. Uouir soil is pretty rocky. Will buy again

The product its self is perfect. The problem is the install. It comes wrapped in plastic. It needs some sort of spool. Once unwrapped it pops open like a slinkey. It was a nightmare to roll and SUPER heavy. If it had been on some sort of spool it could have unrolled and would have been no issues at all. But since it was not....we almost died.......

We ordered 3 500ft coils of Sharbite to be delivered to our home for a job. We received 1 500ft roll and the others never came. We decided to go a different route and it took 4 trips to Home Depot to received a refund. They couldn’t tell us why the other 2 boxes weren’t delivered.
