SharkBite Push-to-connect ball valve is the easiest way to install a new or replacement shut-off ball valve. The single lever quarter-turn control allows for easy operation and the valve is perfect for potable water and hydronic applications where a shut-off is needed. No soldering, clamps, unions, glue, or special tools are required. Simply insert the pipe and the teeth bite down and grip tight, while a specially formulated O-ring compresses to create a watertight seal. Changes can easily be made by rotating the valve after installation. Removing the valve is just as fast using a disconnect tool so the valve can be easily changed or reused. Designed with stainless steel gripping teeth for a secure connection, a chlorine-resistant O-ring for a long-lasting seal, and backed by a 25-year warranty.
  • Compatible with PEX, copper, CPVC, PE-RT, and HDPE pipe

Answer This Question

A:  Hi, The SharkBite 3/4 in. x 1/2 in. Push-to-Connect Reducing Ball Valve is not flow specific. Water will flow in either direction. If you have any more questions you can call tech support at 877-700-4242. (Kind regards,)

A:  Probably, but I went from 3/4 to 1/2 on my install. I don't know how your flow will be. I would say not what you'd expect.

A:  I find nothing in the item or on the attached tag so that should mean made in the USA.

A:  Not sure it doesn't say country of origin on the valve or the packaging.

I had a valve soldered in place with copper piping that needed to be replaced under my kitchen sink counter that was stuck and could not be operated. It is a very tight area with dishwasher, refrigerator supply, and sink connections so I used a SharkBite 3/4 to ½ reducing ball valve that simply needs to be pushed together to connect. It can be rotated to position the lever so that it has room to be operated. Such an easy product to use to save time and energy. I could not imagine having to sweat together copper in such tight quarters with a torch. This valve works with copper, CPVC and PE-RT pipe. Downstream of the pipe I used CPVC to replace the copper. The valve is a little pricey but well worth the price. Everything used to manufacture the valve is high quality and a ball valve has a full pipe size opening which won’t restrict water flow. It is rated at 200 degrees F and 200 PSI. I impressed with this product and highly recommend it as I saved at least one hour on this project. Please look at the pictures and look at the tools required to replace this vale by soldering one in place verses the SharkBite.

The Sharkbite 1 inch x 3/4 inch push-to-connect reducing ball valve is easy to use and made very well. The sharkbite technology is great for plumbing connections. It works on any combination of Copper, PE-RT, CPVC, PEX Pipe. Push-it connections need no solder, glue, unions, or tools. Its the easiest way to install a new or replacement shut-off ball valve when transitioning from 1 in. pipe down to 3/4 in. Rated to use on 200°F and 200 psi.

The quick-connect design beats gluing CPVC, soldering copper or making a mechanical PEX connection easily. The reducing feature worked great for sliding onto a previously installed ¾-inch CPVC stub-outs for an outdoor shower to make the ½-inch runs to the shower control. The valve will function as a service shut-off and a Winter shut-off so I can drain the shower runs. In my case, I would prefer that the valve did not rotate to make turning the handle easier without the valve rotating on the pipe. Adding mounting ears to the valve would solve this issue--just a thought. The valves come with pre-installed plastic inserts for use with PEX tubing. These inserts are not needed for CPVC or copper but do not have to be removed. However, I like to remove them especially on copper where I believe that they will cause turbulence and pressure drop. I found a helpful document on the HD website that addresses using these fittings, and how to remove the PEX insert on page 5. https://www.homedepot.com/hdus/en_US/DTCCOM/HomePage/Know_How/Plumbing/SharkBite/Docs/SB_Installation_Instruc7.pdf The orange PVC dipped handle is easy to grip. However, I would prefer that it be red (for hot water) and that SharkBite either offer the same valve with a blue handle (for cold water) or offer a blue vinyl replacement handle cover that could be changed-out in the field. I could not locate a country of origin on the valve or tag but the SharkBite catalog states that their products are made in the USA.

Another perfect and easy to use sharkbite connector. I used this connector along the water supply route I made connecting some older 1/2 inch copper to a larger 3/4 pex that eventually feeds the water heater. I tested the shutoff and it worked perfectly. Of course the actual installation of this sharkbite connector was a snap. (Cut and debur the existing copper, push the sharkbite very firmly to set the teeth, and push the pex firmly on the other side.) Done 5 minutes at most if the space had been easier to access.

Sharkbite has been manufacturing plumbing systems and components for residential and commercial application for over 20 years. The connections made with Sharkbite fittings are permanent and are rated to be buried in the ground and inside walls. This 1” x 3/4” lead-free brass ball valve is beautifully machined and manufactured. As with all push-to-fit Sharkbite products, installation couldn’t be easier or guaranteed leak free, provided that they are installed according to Sharkbite’s installation instructions. Simply make sure the pipe is cut square, de-burr if needed, and pushed fully into the fitting. Sharkbite allows this fitting to be removed and reused up to 4 times. The manufacturer backs this valve with a 25 year warranty BUT ONLY IF INSTALLED BY A LICENSED PLUMBER! Therefore, there is no warranty if installed by a non-licensed person, ie homeowner. This valve can be used with copper, CPVC, PE-RT and PEX pipes. It is rated for 200 psi @ 200 F and can be use for both potable and hydronic applications. It is made in USA.

I am making a automatic fill line for my swimming pool. I need to lower the water pressure a bit and the SharkBite 1 in. x 3/4 in. Push-to-Connect Reducing Ball Valve is the perfect answer. Being SharkBite I know it is high quality, easy to install, and won't leak. I will just flip it around and instead of reducing I will be expanding diameter and reducing pressure.

I've been a big fan of Sharkbite fittings and valves for many years. This 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch push-to-connect reducing ball valve is going into a new outdoor project we're building: an outdoor shower in our patio area. This valve will work prefectly for reducing from the 3/4 inch PEX line that I'll run through the fence with a 3/4 inch female hose adapter down to the 1/2 inch PEX line I will run to the shower head. Like all Shrakbite brass fittings, this is well made and sturdy, so should hold up well to the outdoor conditions of the patio. The really neat thing about Sharkbite fittings is that they can be turned around the pipe as needed to orient the valve handle where you need it after it has been attached to the pipe. You can also easily remove and re-use Sharkbite fittings with a simple tool.

As a DIY home owner I have used most of the connection types for copper lines in my house. I have soldered, used compression fittings and even shark bites occasionally. The reason I selected this product is because of how fast you can install these fittings, and how reliable they can be. In fact I trust them so much that I keep a bunch of spares on hand at all times. If anything ever breaks, springs a leak, or something goes terrible wrong I can cut out an old fitting and just use of of these to put it all back together. Great fitting. Ball valve has a smooth operation with a firm stop. Will definitely purchase again if I need to.
