SharkBite PEX tubing is cross-linked polyethylene tubing for a wide range of residential and commercial plumbing applications. PEX Pipe is durable, flexible and corrosion resistant. Manufactured without an oxygen barrier for potable water systems (available in white, blue, and red). A repeating SharkBite imprint patterns provides a visual aid to determine if the tube has been inserted all the way into the SharkBite Push-to-Connect Fitting. This feature only works if the tubing is cut between the SharkBite imprint patterns. In addition to Potable Water Supply SharkBite PEX meets UL Standard for Plastic Piping in Fire Systems.

Questions & Answers

can pex pipe be buried where there tree roots?

Asked by sparky January 6, 2021

Hello, The SharkBite 1 in. x 300 ft. Coil White PEX Pipe can be buried. You would not want the tree roots coming in contact with the PEX pipe. If you have any more questions you can contact tech support at 877-700-4242. Kind regards,

What is the country of origin?

Asked by Jj September 3, 2020

Hello, SharkBite PEX tubing is manufactured in the U.S.A. If you have additional questions please don't hesitate to reach out to our technical support department at 877-700-4242. Best Regards,

can the product be buried to run water to horse pasture. If so what depth do you recommend? We also get snow sometimes

Asked by Matt July 22, 2020

Hello, SharkBite PEX tubing is suitable for burial but should not be used in areas where the soil is or may become contaminated* including the soil used for back filling. All SharkBite Universal fittings with brass bodies must have an impervious barrier (such as SharkBite silicone wrap) between the fitting and the surrounding soil. Self-fusing, formaldehyde and chloride-free, fully cured silicone tape with a minimum thickness of 0.020" should be used for this purpose. The soil used for back filling must be free of rocks, debris or any sharp objects that may cause damage to the fitting or pipe through impact or abrasion. * Examples of contamination include, but are not limited to, petrochemicals (reclaimed service station sites), high levels of nitrogen compounds (this could be caused by animal waste or fertilizer that may be found in some agricultural applications), low pH levels (below pH 6), high pH levels(above pH 8), run off from land fill, formaldehyde compounds, and solvents. It should be noted that such contaminants have been known to migrate through plastic piping systems and contaminate the Potable water supplied through these pipes. It will be necessary to find the frost line depth for pipes in your particular area as this is different from place to place. If you have additional questions please don't hesitate to reach out to our technical support department at 877-700-4242. Best Regards,

can this be used as buried pipe to a yard hydrant?

Asked by hydrant September 9, 2019

I believe as long as its not for drinking water purposes it should be fine. The issue with burial in soil is the leaching of chemicals from the dirt into the water supply, so generally burial of pex is not recommended for drinking water applications. Other than that, thats what i dug up from previous research. If i had to do it for a non drinking application i definitely would do it.

can this pipe be buried under ground?

Asked by MadeinMaine September 3, 2019

Hello, Yes, SharkBite PEX tubing is suitable for burial in most areas. We do recommend checking with your local AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) for approval in your area. Please be aware our brass fittings are approved for burial but our fitting wrap must be used to prevent potential contaminants in the soil from negatively effecting the brass. Below is a link to our silicone wrap along with a link to our installation instructions. Please see page 4 our installation instructions for burial requirements and instructions on how to use our burial wrap. There is also a link to a video that goes over how to wrap a fitting. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our technical support department at 877-700-4242. http://www.sharkbite.com/product/sharkbite-silicone-wrap/ https://www.sharkbite.com/sites/g/files/rgohfh321/files/2018-05/SharkBite_Installation_Instructions_2018_WEB.pdf https://www.sharkbite.com/resources/video/how-wrapping-sharkbiter-fittings-underground-installations Best Regards,

Hello, SharkBite push-to-connect fittings are approved for potable water and radiant/hydronic heating applications. We do not recommend the use of our fittings with air. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our technical support department at 877-700-4242. Best Regards,

can I use an expansion tool with Uponor fittings instead of Sharkbite or clamps?

Asked by FumblePlummer July 26, 2019

No. Uponor is a different size.

what is the material of the PEX Pipe

Asked by Alex April 8, 2019

PEX pipe is made from cross-linked HDPE (high density polyethylene). The HDPE is melted and continuously extruded into a tube to form a high-performing pipe suitable for a variety of potable plumbing applications.

Can Sharkbite pex be buried underground

Asked by clay November 13, 2018

I live in Georgia and burried close to 300 feet over a year ago and I have had no issues. I run over it with my heavy John Deere tractor all the time, still no problems.

Can this be used to connect my well to water stickers around my property? Is 1 inch big enough? I’ll be attaching a hose

Asked by Troy November 2, 2018

Yes it can be. You can use our red, white or blue PEX pipe. All are manufactured the same and have all same plumbing codes. We just add a color additive to the red and blue for customers to remember which line is for hot and cold when installing new fixtures. If you have further questions, please contact Customer Service M-F, 8am-5pm at (877) 700-4242.

Very think Wall, I even burn it to see the resistance and is really good. We indeed up running 500 linear feet of pipe. I am very impress with the quality. Inside of pipe is just a little under 1 inch. But I would definitely recommend. Even if you buy 3/4 inch I notice is same quality.
