SharkBite PEX tubing is a cross-linked polyethylene tubing for a wide range of residential and commercial plumbing applications. Manufactured without an oxygen barrier for potable water systems (available in white, blue, and red). A repeating SharkBite imprint pattern provides a visual aid to determine if the tube has been inserted all the way into the SharkBite Push-Fit Fitting. This feature only works if the tubing is cut between the SharkBite imprint pattern.

As far as i know this pipe is Pex-B and is to be ONLY used for compression fittings such as rings...

Asked by Josh November 4, 2017

Answer

SharkBite PEX pipe is PEX B. You are correct that it is not compatible with the expansion tool and style pipe that contracts onto a barb fitting. However, our pipe can be used with our barb fittings and either the stainless steel clamps/tool or copper crimp rings/tool, or our SharkBite push to connect fittings. Our pipe is flexible and will expand and contract as it is freeze resistant but again not in regards to using it with the expansion tool. Is this both flexible and rigid enough to make a 8' circle?

Asked by KEB May 2, 2017

Answer

Yes. However you will need a longer piece than the 5' stick to make an 8' circle.

what is the difference between "A" pex pipe and "B" pex pipe?

Asked by DD April 7, 2017
1
Answer

The cross-linking method is the difference between PEX-A, PEX-B and PEX-C. Cross-linking is defined as polyethylene material that has undergone a change in molecular structure using a chemical or a physical process whereby the polymer chains are chemically linked. All SharkBite PEX pipe is manufactured as PEX-B. As background, the methods for cross-linking are: •PEX-A: Peroxide This method employs organic peroxides that, when heated, generate reactive free radicals that splice PE chains together during extrusion •PEX-B: Silane This method involves grafting a reactive silane molecule to the backbone of the polyethylene •PEX-C: Electron beam This method involves subjecting the extruded PE pipe to a dose of high-energy electrons If you have further questions, please contact Customer Service M-F, 8am-5pm at (877) 700-4242.

Is this made in USA or China?

Great Value, Easy Install
I used SharkBite PEX to replace copper line running to my Water Heater. The red and blue colors make it easy to distinguish Hot and Cold lines after install is complete. Using a SharkBite elbow I easily transitioned from Copper to PEX, the PEX is more flexible than copper and easy to work with, it is also a great value at much lower price point. PEX is easy to cut as well and can be done with a PEX Cutter sold at Home Depot. Great product very easy to work with and use for an average DIYer.
