Nice Microwave
Be warned. It has a large footprint and is deep. Does a nice job though. Interior is very bright and large. The reasons I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars. Hard read the control panel in dim light. The plug is not a flat plug so it takes up a lot of room if the plug is directly behind the microwave. Had to buy a short flat plug extension cord to free up some room in the back. Don't try and remove the warning label on the top of the unit. You'll spend the next hour trying to get it off. And finally, you can't type in in 45 seconds and press start. You have to push another button first then enter the number of seconds and then start. For those reasons, I took off one star. I would recommend this microwave.

This review is for the Sharp Carousel 1.4 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave in White I needed a replacement for the EXCELLENT Gold Star (LG) small countertop microwave I purchased from Home Depot ~20 years ago. That was the best designed and performing microwave I've ever used and I was sad that it finally needed to be replaced. After 20 years of daily use it was still in good cosmetic shape and I'd have like to repair it if that were feasible. So how does this Sharp unit stack up? Here's what I DON'T like about it: 1) It's significantly louder than my old microwave of the same wattage. A rather big, boomy sound. The cabinet seems to resonate a lot. 2) The glass carousel platter extends all the way to the front edge of the interior floor. There is no lip to protect the edge of the platter. Therefore, whenever I put something into this oven, I worry that I'm going to chip the platter or the dish I'm putting in, or that I'll dislodge the platter from its spindle. 3) The power cord is thick and stiff and it has a straight plug on it. This ends up pushing the oven out from the wall several inches farther than it needs to be. Why not provide a right-angle plug head? I've added a $5 adapter in order to reclaim some front counter space. 4) The oven's feet are hard plastic rather than soft rubber. It seems to be on the verge of sliding every time I press the latch to open the door. 5) This oven lacks the More and Less time buttons my old one had. This was a convenient feature to add or subtract 10 seconds while cooking, which I miss. 6) Requires a button push to put it into Time Cook mode before being able to enter a precise cook time. I preferred being able to just input a time and press Start. Those who typically just use the Express Cook buttons won't care about this, and I'll probably adopt that practice. 7) Overall dimensions are a bit larger for the same 1000 watts I had before. I preferred the more compact size, even at the expense of a somewhat smaller interior cavity. I'm not going to be cooking a turkey in a microwave, so no need for such a cavernous interior. What I DO like: 1) The aesthetics of the unit (in white) are nice. I has a sleek, minimalist look. 2) It seems to heat things pretty much as well as my previous microwave did. I guess microwave oven technology hasn't changed (or improved?) much since 2000. 3) If this new oven lasts for 15-20 years, then the price I paid will have been a good value. We shall see about that.

This sharp carousel 1.4 cu. ft. countertop microwave is of adequate size. It seems to be working fine so far. I have yet to put it through its paces as it was an emergency replacement. I'll have to sit down with the book for a few minutes. So far, so good. It runs a little bit loud and I wish they had used a bold or thicker font for the control panel. They are a bit grey on a black background. In low light it's a little hard to read or better yet make them backlit. I'm dealing with it. For the wattage it does a pretty good job. I took a step down from a 1400 W to this one and I haven't really noticed less heating ability or longer times required so I'm pretty happy on that aspect. The top of box said "Modern glossy white finish" on each flap. The sides said "Modern glossy black finish" ON THE SAME BOX. I consider this an essential part of this review and My direct experience with the sharp company because that caused me to buy three microwaves before I got the black one that I ordered. The first microwave I got was probably also black but IMO mass producing packaging with confusing labels on what color is inside should never have made it past the drawing board.

I love this Microwave. I replaced a 30 year old Sharp Carousel that finally died on me with this new Sharp Carousel.. I am amazed at the technology advances in microwaves. The Reheat option works beautifully and WOW the soften butter function is a dream for a baker like me. I put two cold cubes of butter into my mixing bowl directly from the refrigerator and selected the soften butter function and VOILA perfectly softened butter. No hard spots or completely melted spots!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT !!!

This is the second Sharp Carousel microwave that we have owned. The first one lasted 15 years, so we thought we'd purchase one again. Overall, I would recommend it, but here are the details: Pros: Large interior space but doesn't take up much room on the countertop (see photo- large turntable that maximizes interior space.) Sleek look. Easy to use, has nice features. Cons: You CANNOT mute the beeper, which I find very annoying. Not super quiet when running. Next time I might purchase a microwave with higher wattage.

This was purchased to replace it's Sharp Carousel predecessor that was purchased in 1997 (surprisingly, made in the USA back then...but will just no longer power on). Slightly smaller than the older one, but overall nice aesthetics. A little sad that some of my favorite buttons are no longer standard. Hoping this one lasts another 20+ years.

I was disappointed by this microwave for a couple reasons. 1. I contacted Sharp to get the model number that would be the current equivalent of the microwave I was replacing. I forgot to ask for one that would fit my existing Built-In kit. This is the one they recommended. 2. This oven is 1000 watts and the one I am replacing was 1100. Thus longer cooking times are required. 3, Sharp does not make a Built-in kit for this oven thus I have to make an adapter for my existing Built-In kit so as to preserve the appearance of the microwave in my kitchen. However the oven performs well and has good features.
