Questions & Answers

Is this more sound resistant than other products? Especially ultra light ones.

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.
Asked by: Tom
Thank you for your question. The board will be the same as standard board when it comes to STC sound rating.

can I use this on a shower wall that is going to be tiled.
Asked by: ss
Thank you for your inquiry. Mold tough is approved for use in bathroom and high humidity areas but not within tub or shower enclosures. It should not be tiled over in wet areas. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry the product alone does not have a fire rating this can be used in a assembly to achieve a fire rated assembly.

I ordered at midnight and got my materials delivered in the following morning! The drywall is great and mounting it was a breeze. The only thing that bothered me slightly was that some corners and edges of the drywall got damaged during the transport.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great For Garage Ceilings Fire Resistant, Mold and Moisture Resistant? Excellent Choice for a Garage Ceiling or that Wall Between Your Unfinished Garage and Your Living Space. A little Pricey but a Two Thumbs Up Product...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A tad bit better than regular Gyp Board This Green board is a better choice over standard gyp board, and have used it in bathrooms....although only one surface is treated; the back side is like regular drywall and has no treatment. The core of this product is denser and is cement based. I would rather use National Gypsum's purple board (ExP) in bathrooms, or GP's paperless drywall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product Hung 10 sheets of this drywall. The weight difference is substantial over the ultralight, definitely need a helper. Scores and snaps well for 5/8.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Price went up by $3.48 cents. Why did the price go up so much? Lowes is almost 4 bucks cheaper for mold resistance sheetrock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to cut and hang, great for a bathroom Hung 5 sheets of this in a bathroom remodel and found it easy to work with. I did notice that even with a sharp craft knife blade, the backing on the underside of the sheet rock can ball up and start to tear the backing paper when you're scoring the backside fold of a cut. Rather than dragging the blade tip up the fold, I found that I had to bury the blade into the backing paper and then draw it up for a clean cut. The board itself is heavy and I found that safely navigating a full 8x4 sheet around the house to avoid damaging corners was a 2 person job (as was loading the cart in Home Depot as the sheets were on the second tier of a storage rack). In all honesty I ended up with 5/8" by accident as these sheets were in the bay where I'd bought three sheets of 1/2" the week before to do the ceiling and there was no rack label, but I didn't realize this until I'd hung a couple of pieces. So I had to make a trip back to HD to take back the unused 5/8 sheets and get the correct 1/2" size I needed for the walls where the drywall butts up to the 7/16" cement board I had used. The "Muppet of the month" award goes to the HD associate who managed to mix & match the drywall stacks and the sheet size labels so double check the dimensions that are printed on the board ends just to be sure that you're buying the size you think you are. It hung easily and I found that even screws that were quite close (within 1/2") of the edge of the board didn't break the board edge if they were driven in with care. The edges are recessed which makes taping the seams a little easier as the topping coat has a natural edge to be feathered to.
