Questions & Answers

is this a SET OF BRACKETS? What does EACH mean here?

Asked by: mrs
Two of the items in the pic per kit ... so the $14.99 gets you two to form a complete rack. I had the same question ... if you drill down a little, you will see it's a pair.

Concerned about the pressure.

I will be using only one bracket per row of wood. It will be on the lower end of the row and will be stacked to four feet high. My concern is, if the bracket fails, and the four foot 2 X 4 falls over, I will lose quite a bit of wood over the bank. I'm currently using steel brackets that have served me well over the years. But the vertical brace, once loaded, is at a rather severe angle. I'm concerned that this plastic style of brace won't be able to handle the load. Is there a weight limit to these. Thank you.
Asked by: Andy
I'm just a customer and can't speak about specific weight limits but I have used the metal brackets you mention. These plastic brackets don't seem to have that problem and is why I decided to try them over the metal ones which I have used also. These brackets seem quite strong and the only thing I can see happening is UV exposure over time weakening the plastic since it is made of ABS and that is typically not UV resistant unless it is manufactured specifically that way and the advertising does not specify.

How come the ad says that a PAIR of brackets is $14.99, when I click it into the cart, it comes up $39.98?

Asked by: Tippy
It's a set of two brackets.

Conceptually this is a fine product, but the horizontal slots for fitting a classic 2 x 4 are a touch too small which forces you to cut a 1/4" x 6” slice out of the 2 x 4 to get them to fit in the slot. This is strange because the vertical slots fit 2 x 4’s just fine. Must be a quality control issue

They are durable, long lasting, and extremely effective in holding logs in place. No more metal racks for me that bend under the weight, corrode, and give out after a couple of years of use. After almost a decade of use, I am still using my first LumberRack. All you need is two 8' lengths of 2X4s for the base and four 4' pieces for the verticals.

I expected this was going to be easy to put together and it was even more simple than I thought it would be. You don't need any tools and it's so easy anyone could have this together is just minutes. It's pretty clear just how it all goes together. If you don't have them already, you'll need 4-eight foot lengths of 2x4. Use 2 uncut lengths for the bottom of the rack and cut the other 2 in half and use those 4 pieces for the uprights. I bought 2 of these kits and had them both together in about 10 minutes. It helped to set them up on level ground and you don't need to hold wood in place with nails or screws...the weight of the cord wood will keep it from coming apart. Early days yet, but if they hold up like I expect they will, I'm going to get another couple of kits for next year. The Shelterlogic eight foot covers I bought with these fit very well and made the racks look neat, while protecting the wood. My wife appreciated how the final project all looked when done. I'm estimating that 2 of these 8 foot racks held about a 1/2 cord of 16-18" logs.

The only problem I can see is that they are made of rigid plastic. And I truly don't see them surviving the winter. However, they are inexpensive enough that they could be bought yearly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from organization at it's best I used garage length studs. I used one bracket in the middle of span. It works near perfect for an easy sizing of 4'. I cut 1 in half for the uprights & added a 2x4 block across the top to hold the bottom dimension true. Easy to figure how much wood you have that way. Every three sections 16"x4'x4' = a face chord. x3= a full chord

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to assemble !! This was a very easy and inexpensive way to build a log rack. Although I did have to shave down the 2x4 a bit to make them fit through the sleeve, it really wasn't an issue at all. Also, you could customize to any size (height, width) that you like.
