Product Overview

The Shepherd 1 in. and 1-1/2 in. Nail-On Glides with Felt guard Plus Felt Pads (20-Pack) work on wooden furniture legs. The heavy-duty felt pads prevent marring and scratching of hardwood, laminate and other hard surfaces, and they reduce noise and friction while moving furniture. The glides feature a nail-on design for easy installation.
  • Felt allows for discreet scratch-free motion over wood, tile, and laminate floors, but some applications justify attachment methods beyond traditional self-adhesive
  • Plastic base glide with hollow metal ferrel that taps safely into wooden legs and heavy duty beige felt underside to protect floors that could be damaged from other types of glides
  • Easy to install - Simply tap hollow shaft into wooden leg for extra protection against wood splitting
  • Not intended for use on angled chair or table legs
  • Dinette Set Contains (16) 1 inch + (4) 1-1/2 inch diameter round beige felt pads with base and hollow shaft - 20 Pack
  • Not recommended for use on angled leg bases
  • Nail-on design for easy installation
  • Package contains 4 of the 1.5 in. and 16 of the 1 in. for a total of 20 piece

Just pull out the worn ones and tap new ones into the same holes as the old ones. Very easy and my replacement pads held well in the old holes. I used the same exact pads by Shepherd, from Home Depot so they would fit.

Scorpio, thank you for your question. Yes, we do offer the 1.5" only in 4-packs. Unfortunately, Home Depot does not list for purchase on their website. However, if you can go into your local Home Depot store and go to the Pro Desk, they can call us at 800-645-8990 and request a "special order" for you. the part number for our 1.5" 4-Pack is 9935. I hope this information helps.

Exactly what is in the pack? How many 1" and how many 1.5"?

Flimsy metal taps buckle after attempting to install making the glide useless
I've used similar glides on my wooden kitchen chairs in the past that were simple to install and replace but this brand was not only a pain to install but also the felt wore down much more quickly than they should have. The hollow metal ferrel couldn't withstand being tapped into the chair legs without buckling, rendering at least 4 in this package as useless. I can only surmise that the ones that I was able to install were "sharper" on the edge than the ones that didn't. Attempting to hammer them in with more force led to the felt being smashed until they were so thin that they would offer no floor protection at all. Absolutely a waste of money. I'll be looking elsewhere for the kind of glides I used in the past.

This 20 pack is a good value and works well because you get enough pads for the table and 4 chairs. I like the circular "nail" system these use. It holds well and is easy to tap in with a mallet or hammer. Also, when one wears out, I've found that you can pull it off and tap in a new one and it will go in easily and still hold well. So, these pads are easily replaced when needed. I would recommend these as better than the types that attach with adhesives. My first set lasted about 10 years of pretty constant use on wood floors in our dining room. And, I easily replaced them with this new set!

felt wears off
we had these on our dinning room chairs for a couple years and noticed some circle impressions in the linoleum flooring. the felt had worn off and the plastic had deteriorated leaving the metal nail on doughnuts which where sinking into the flooring
