Will these wheels move on carpet?

Asked by: Vee
I expect so, but if you let them sit on carpet, you will want small cups to protect the carpet.

How many wheels can you sell me? I am a student and I'm doing a school project. I was wondering if you could sell me 40,000 wheels by Christmas. If you can't, how many can you sell me? I would appreciate it if you could reply to me by the end of this week. Thanks!!!

My grilling table has "L" shaped legs. 125lb is more than enough, but will this product work if only 3 of the 4 screws are used, given the leg shape (1" by 4" pine used)?
Asked by: Mike
Mike, I'm sure that by now you've already installed the casters on your grilling table and had plenty of use for it, with the casters securely fastened with three substantial screws in each leg, however, I'm seeing a potential problem with your choice of casters. The problem I'm seeing in my mind's eye is that when your overly rambunctious dog (or alligator, tiger, or whatever) gets their leash tangled up in the table, and they take off for parts unknown, you may have wished you had gone ahead and gotten casters with a locking mechanism on them! Admittedly, that may not stop them from making off with yer brisket, but it may slow them down enough that your son (or daughter) can catch up to them and at least rescue the entrée!

Polypropylene Swivel Plate Caster with 125 lb. Load Rating" by answering the question asked in the email subject line requesting a review. No, these casters did NOT meet my expectations. However, like so many other people with unreasonable expectations for items they purchase, there is a perfectly good reason they didn't. See, I bought four of these casters for a desk I salvaged from the building across the street that was being gutted for renovation. The desk was just exactly what I was looking for as a work desk for my hobby, with drawers on each side, and a large top for work space. It's a solid oak desk made by the Derby Desk Co. in Boston, USA, circa 1895 - 1905, and in need of refinishing. Well the problem with these casters is that I was hoping to be able to attach them to the desk sections as I got them finished, and had finished one of the side banks of drawers when I found these casters on Home Depot's site. Seemed to be just about perfect for what I needed, gave enough extra height for the carpeted floor compared to the one inch casters that had seen better days, that I had removed from the desk. However, what I didn't take into account when I bought these very reasonably priced casters is that putting two casters on the one bank of drawers that I have finished would immediately render it useless until I get the other bank and the desktop finished so I could reassemble the sections. So without installing all four casters on the one bank of drawers I have finished, it would not be as easily utilized as a set of drawers I could roll around until all sections have been finished and reassembled. (I've often found myself struggling to picture the finished product ahead of time, and, obviously, I failed again this time) Gonna take a leap of faith again though, and say that when I do get all the parts finished and reassembled, these casters will perform just exactly as they were intended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than I Expected I bought 4 of these to make a little dollie that fits the bottom of the plastic storage bins that we store our holiday decorations in. With a few pieces of scrap plywood and the 4 casters I can push a whole stack of storage bins from the bottom of the basement stairs to the far corner where we store everything. Because I would only be moving these around once a year, I figured the smallest and cheapest casters would be alright. Once I got everything put together I was more than impressed with how smooth and easy they rolled around. I should mention that we have a new house with a nice smooth concrete floor - if you have a rough surface you might need a larger set of casters. But for smooth surfaces these really work well. And the price was right.

I am pleased at how it rolls and is easy to move. There is no sign of stress on the casters at this time (on two weeks).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes Objects much easier to move Great design, very flexible. I have installed dozens of these throughout my mothers house on all kinds of furniture. My mother is on the edge of her “elderly” years, so I wanted to make the furniture she frequently moves (tables, cabinets, benches, etc etc) easier to move around. These made it very easy to do so. A nice thing about cabinets, or Kitchen islands, is that they usually have a hallow bottom. What this means is you can install wheels like this, with only an inch (for carpet) or a quarter inch) for tile/hard surfaces, hanging farther out. In other words, you don’t even see the wheels, and the furniture item is magically easy to move. I have used this in a lower cabinet with a counter top in the laundry room and it works great. I’ve used this in a Kitchen Island as well. The Island with the Marble counter top, Dozens of pans, utensils, etc etc, is easily near 1000 pounds, and 8 of these hold it up, and support it effortlessly. The smooth movement (including rolling, and spinning) make it seem like a 50 pound object when pushing it. It’s a world of difference. Not to mention they don’t cut up the tile as simply sliding such a large and heavy object would. I’ve used this in plenty of other objects on both hardwood and carpet surfaces, and it’s great. As far as price, it seems high, but these things are constructed with pure steel, and dense rubber/plastic (on the wheels) They are built to last, built to stay smooth in movements, and considering the amount of metal and precision moldings, the price is actually fair. The parts consist of the wheel, a bolt+nut to hold it in place, the mount for the wheel, the plate to fasten it to an object, roughly a dozen ball bearings between the plate and the wheel mount, and a large rivet to hold them together. Also grease in the ball bearings to keep them smooth. Note, these are best fastened with bolts+nuts. The holes on them are 1/4th inch wide, much wider then a traditional screw. I highly recommend using “Tee Nuts” if using these in furniture. Much nicer and flatter surface then Hex Nuts. For more info on “Tee Nuts” Type “Tee Nuts” into the home depot search engine and you will see 12 different sizes. I have a detailed review that you will find on any of the 12 Tee Nut pages. Maintenance. There really is no maintenance in these things. They are built very strong; I doubt they’d ever break, unless you simply wore down the wheels, which would require plenty of miles of use, and on rough surfaces. Aside from that, if it is in a dirty environment (maybe a workshop, or outdoors) the ball bearings are the most likely part to be effected. In which case, just get a synthetic grease to keep them lubricated. Maybe WD-40 or something.
