Questions & Answers

How would I secure the lazy susan to a 18" dia. by 1 1/4" thick piece of granite?

I cannot put holes in the granite, so i was thinking of some kind of epoxy. Also, I know that Shepherd has a 12 in. lazy susan, would that be better suited for the size of granite that I have? thank you.

While that sounds like a tough problem, I don't think so. I think your best bet is to use the Original Cold-Weld J-B Weld epoxy. The stuff is just simply "crazy-strong" (3960 PSI). It takes a while to set fully (Figure a day or so, even though the description here says "Bonds in minutes" but read on and it says it FULLY sets in 6-24 hrs.) Just make sure you clean any oils, etc from both the Lazy Susan and the Granite (Personally, I'd scrub both surfaces with some 80 grit sand paper first, and then clean with the rubbing alcohol before applying the epoxy to both the Lazy Susan and granite. The scuffing will give it something to "grab onto" and the alcohol will clean the dust, dirt, and oils off. Then put them together, put a centered weight on it, and let it set fully. I'm sure this will work for you. And personally, I'd go for the 12 in. Lazy Susan; it will (or should) give you a more solid base to turn on and be smoother. Hope this helps. Oh, here's the URL to the epoxy: https://www.homedepot.com/p/J-B-Weld-Two-1-oz-Twin-Tube-Cold-Weld-8265-s/100189012

How does this Shepherd item differ from the Everbilt item that has the same photo (and similar model number) ... other than the price?
Asked by: Tomas
The only difference I see is one specs a 400 lb. rating and another (The more expensive one) specs 500 lbs. One could "assume" that means the 500 lb. product is "better," but it's certainly not clear.

This item says that it is for a D shape tray. Would it also work for a circular tray?

Asked by: lonewolf
Sure. Remember if both the top and the base extend beyond the turntable, you will have to figure out how to reach the screws or bolts to attach it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product works well The Lazy Susan Turntable has a smooth swivel when used. It was relatively easy to install and came with good installation instructions. I used it to create a rotating Scrabble board table so that everyone can have the board facing them during their turn.

Metal Lazy Susan Turntable with 500lbs from Home Depot website. This is the second bearing I purchased to build a Lazy Susan turntable cabinet. Installation was such a breeze! The product is heavy duty and has such a smooth turn. The first unit I built was for my kitchen cabinet and it is invaluable. I have easy access to all of my cooking ingredients and even better, my wife loves it too! The second unit went into an island that I built for my daughter's apartment. She has a teeny tiny apartment in New York and the Lazy Susan really helps with the storage space.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good product, extra purchases Good product, but needed two different kinds of screws. The top piece and bottom piece have different sized holes. Was annoying to have to make another trip back to home depot, but if you are big on tools and supplies or have a good stock it wouldn't be a problem for you.
