Questions & Answers

Textured Walls?

Does this work well with textured (spray-on) walls? Given the low price may just buy it and try it.
Asked by: Jim
Just finished painting a bedroom...didn't put blue tape anywhere...just used the paint edger around the baseboards, ceiling, entrance door, closet door, and windows. This thing works brilliantly once you get the hang of it, and it's not as as slow to use as some videos make it seem. This is far faster and more effective than taping off everything. Some tips...lightly set the pad on the surface of pain in a paint tray... don't get paint on anything but the pas of the tool. Keep the black edge guides up while loading. When you place it flat against the wall, start about two inches away from the edge (baseboard, etc.) and move the pad toward the edge. Right before you get to the edge, lower the black edge guide, then draw it along the wall using even, moderate pressure. Reload and repeat. Be sure to keep those black edge guides clean, including underneath. Great product!!!

Is it better to apply paint with brush than dunking it in the tray, Most people say you make a mess dunking it?
Asked by: Mike
Yes, you must apply the paint with a brush, and make sure you don't get paint too close to the front edge of the paid (where the wheels are). Otherwise, overloading the front edge will result in paint spilling over the front side, getting on the wheels, and eventually getting paint where you don't want it.

Basic question: How do you install the pad? The one it comes with has these curved plastic hooks along the shorter ends, but they don't seem to fit easily onto the shorter ends of the Edger. I'm not sure what the black tabs on the shorter ends of the Edger are either. This does not seem to the the Edger tool with a quick release button near the swivel handle, but I could be wrong. Thanks!
Asked by: Bedroom
The pad installs only way you have to snap the curved part over the indent. The curved black hooks will release the pad for disposal.

Asked by: thepaintidiot
The stores I've been to had pads, and they were available online too. I returned the pads back to the store when I returned the edger itself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Straight line I am a pro painter. Pros: I save alot of time using this edger, thing that I learn from using it. Buy your self a smaller size paint tray so you can easily carry it around. Just dip the front half of the edger into your paint tray, just enough paint, gently wipe off excessed paint on the grits on your paint tray like you do when using a paint brush. Rolling it slow so the plastic wheels don’t put the black marks on the other edge. Slide the edger away from the edge to smooth out excessed paint, like when using a paint brush. Cons: it is a bit challenge when using this edger with a pole attach, it could make a mess, with the long pole attached, you can’t really tell how much paint you just dip from your paint tray. I walk on a pair of Stilts so I dont have to use the pole. Use a step ladder if you can’t walk the stilts! Have fun painting.

Although the pad seemed to be very tight, as soon as I used it, the pad pushed back a good quarter inch resulting in no edge. I tried to push it back, but it would not budge. I had to get my hands all full of paint to get it back in place. As soon as I started using it, the same thing happened, the pad pushed back. A very disappointing product.

I hate painting but was able to do the room so quickly with this genius invention. I am a huge fan. I will get it again if I ever decide to paint again..definitely.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Works for about 2-3 strokes before it conks out Tried edging a WC with this and it may have worked for about 2-3 strokes. ANY paint in the rollers or at the top of the pad will completely screw it up and i was careful. Gave up and used the old fashioned brush which did the job better. Not worth the cost
