Product Overview

The Siemens 30 Amp Level 2 VersiCharge (VC30GRYHW) electric vehicle charger arrives ready to be hardwired for use in your garage or parking pad. Most EV batteries will be charged from zero to full in less than 3.5 hours, leaving plenty of time to delay your charge by 2-8 hours with the easy to use time of charge delay feature on the unit. Additional features like the status indicating LED Halo visible from a distance and a clean cord management solution will leave you even more satisfied when you get into you're fully charged EV every day.
  • Hardwire version of the VersiCharge is directly hardwired to the electrical system and no plug is provided, therefore, use of an authorized professional electrician is highly recommended
  • Charge delay button: a simple, multi-setting delay timer has been built into the Siemens VersiCharge allowing the user to delay charging by 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours from the time of plug-in; charging sessions will automatically start after the delay charge timer has completed and can help you take part in utility programs that save you money
  • Charging status LED halo: color indication of charging status viewable from across the room; the Siemens VersiCharge LED halo indicates ready-to-charge, charging and fault conditions

Versicharge is built to SAE J1772 standards. Any car which also completely complies with these standards should have no compatibility issue with the charger. Please check with the vehicle manufacturer for compliance.

The Versicharge has no locking provision to prevent theft. It would be up to the installer to ensure it is installed in a secure area.

Does anyone have experience using this unit with a Hyundai Ioniq?

Not with a Hyundia Ioniq but that is because I have a Nissan Leaf. This charger is compatible with the on-board charger in the Hyundia. Remember this Siemens unit just delivers the electricity to the car. The car has its own charger that actually charges your cars battery. You only have to be sure that the delivery device (Siemens VersiCharge) has a connector that mates with your car. All cars except Tesla, use J1772 connectors and the Siemens unit has a J1772 connector. So you should be just fine. You can ask Siemens, just to be sure.

I am very happy with this product. It's working well. It looks nice on the wall. The instructions are clear and easy to understand. The pulsating Halo feature while in use is a useful feature. I contacted the tech support for better understanding of various indicator lights on the display panel. The tech support person was very knowledgeable and helpful. I am quite pleased with the product.

Product was easy to install. The system is designed for 220V hardwiring which was simple. I have a Volt and the only issue I had was the ground pin on the plug to the car had a plastic sheath that needed to be removed. It was a tad irritating when the cable didn't connect to the car at first. I snapped the plastic at the base and the plug worked. The size of the Siemens pin sheath was larger than the bare ground pin on the Chevy charger. Made me wonder why there wasn't anything online that talked about it. Could just be my car.
Pros: Nice Design, Easy Installation, Eco-Friendly

Easy simple installation if your main electrical panel has the space and is located in your garage. For my installation I used a "Power Whip 1/2' x 6'), the kit includes the conduit, fittings and 3 #10guage wires. I also needed 30A 2pole breaker. Total for parts was $24.58 with tax. Making this charger a steal under $500 total. A local electrician quoted the install, using my parts at 587. I installed it myself, to code in under 20 minutes. The only negative is the installation manual. its pretty useless and not easy to follow.
Pros: Eco-Friendly, Nice Design, Easy Installation

Works, but hook broke within days of use

The plastic hook on the charger head broke off with very little use.. Although the charger still works, we are concerned that a strong wind could blow it off the side of the car as it charges overnight.

Works great as long as you never drop the plug

Charger worked great until I accidentally dropped the plug on the garage floor. The charger lights up and all but no longer charges. The handle is solid molded plastic and I’m sure some piece of insulator is now not making the “right” connection. Called Siemens to ask if I could replace the cord but there are absolutely no spare parts so I’m out a few hundred bucks. Poor design if it’s that fragile. Oh, and I called Siemens and they said the warranty isn’t valid since I didn’t hardwire it into the wall. As if that matters.

We bought this unit without realizing it was a hard-wired version, but it works great. The shorter cord is fine if you are charging in your garage. We have another one with a longer cord and it is portable. The unit is very good and we recommend it to anyone with an electric/hybrid vehicle. Being able to charge it quicker is such a plus.
