Product Overview

SilveRboard Acoustic Rigid Foam Insulation is a high performance flat-sheet insulation material made from Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) which is coated with a layer of reflective film laminated on both sides. This highly effective combination of materials offers a higher R-value per inch compared to traditional flat-sheet rigid foam insulation, as well as provides built-in moisture and air barriers which eliminate the need for house wrap. SilveRboard Rigid Foam Insulation (EPS) offers builders a higher performance product which increases job-site efficiency and reduces labor costs.
  • SilveRboard acoustic reduces sounds transmission (STC 19) through interior walls and can be used in conjunction with fiberglass batt to meet or exceed most building code - sound numbers
  • SilveRboard acoustic rigid foam insulation (EPS) can be used for floor, wall and roof insulation for above and below grade - indoor and outdoor- ideal for insulating garage and shed doors
  • SilveRboard acoustic is ideal for walls, floors and ceilings, bathrooms/laundry rooms, theater and quiet rooms- providing low profile thermal and acoustic attenuation
  • Creates thermal envelope for maximum heat/cooling efficiency, the non-perforated film functions as a vapor barrier when joints are taped with an approved vapor barrier tape
  • No off-gassing and does not contain HFCs, CFCs or HCFCs; Exceptional Long-Term Thermal Resistance (LTTR); and increased thermal resistance in lower temperatures

What holds it in place under a mobile home

You would have to screw or nail the boards to the underside of the floor assembly. make sure nails / screws are not too long- should be 1/2"- 3/4" longer than the foam is thick , but this also depends on how thick the current floor is as you do not wnat them sticking through the inside floor. I would also suggest putting a thin layer of plywood or OSB over the foam to protect from wind and water while driving and insects and animals while parked . Good Luck, HC

"Yes". This product will work in your choice of applications. But having said that, "And just to be on the safe side". Please check with your local authorities and maybe the vendor as well to see if there is any reason your national or local codes would disallow it's use in what is termed as an, "Temporary Living Space". The electrical codebook or, "NEC", for instance, "does" have a section (551), which covers "travel trailers". Which it sounds like you were thinking about installing this product. The reason I bring this up is because some building materials these days will have adhesives, solvents and etc. that are used in manufacturing that sometimes take years to cure and are also very toxic. "Like Formaldehyde or other VOC's". But this product will work fine as long as it is safe for living spaces. AND it has several different properties that as an "insulator", will work great for you. Good luck!

Answer

Yes definitely. However for both interior wall and flooring applications it is essential that you place a layer of OSB or plywood over the top of the foam to protect from damage as the foam surface is quite fragile. We generally recommend using 5/8" or 3/4" OSB as this is the most economical. Product is totally water , mold and mildew resistant so that makes it ideal for this situation. If you are planning on washing your floors regularly you should treat your wood floors with a water sealer or cover with sheet vinyl. Would love to see the finished result. hcohen@amvicsystem.com Good Luck, HC

The product is easy to cut, shape, and install. It out performs other products with it's higher R value, and reflective skin. Highly recommend. Used it to make an indoor dog house for my short haired pet who gets chilled by drafts. She loves it!

Good & economic solution
It's good. I installed it on my garage doors after reading online reviews that it makes the garage not loose heat and does not let's cold creep in.. I definitely see that the panels are warmer than the hinges... Earlier entire door was cold now only the hinges are cold.. So I would say 85 percent of the door is blocking the cold out to a larger extent. Which is substantially good. I can put the bubble wrap insulation on hinges and panel liners, but just a little lazy and so far it's not making the bottles freeze in the garage.. M in Brampton west, Ontario. I like the product, it was easy to cut with regular cutter or a knife... I used the regular cutter & was able to snug fit in the door panels. No need of glue. Yes I recommend it as a nice cheap alternative to replace a garage door just for insulation.

I used these foam insulation panels to insulate my 16 ft. Two car garage door. Each panel was cut to fit snugly into each of the steel door panels, without glue or double sided tape. The overall door was then covered with an insulating foil-faced foam blanket, secured to the door with double sided tape. I have achieved an R rating of R-14 with this combination of materials. I will be installing a portable a/c unit / heat pump in my garage workshop for year round temperature control. The Silverboard panels worked perfectly, being easier to handle than 8 ft. X 4 ft. Panels. The only thing that I would do differently if I did this project again, would be to buy a hot knife foam board cutter from Harbor Freight tools, to make cutting the foam easier and cleaner.

Great Stuff, highly recommended. Used under a standing seam metal roof on my porch. The difference was enormous, hottest days of the year and you could no longer feel that radiant heat of the sun on that black metal roof when standing on the deck. Since it is foiled on both sides, I am hoping it will have the reverse effect during the winter and hold some warmth from the morning sun under it. Cuts fairly easy with a box knife using a metal square as a guide, but requires some technique. Start with the blade at a shallow angle making a shallow cut. Then repeat the cut increasing the angle to get depth. My blade did not go through (board is 1" thick) but once you cut one side you can break, flip it over and cut the foil/Mylar on the backside. This technique worked well for me as I was fitting it between some twisted joists. I used Gorilla Construction Adhesive (white) to attach to structure and to stick panel ends to each other.
