The LCD only shows run hours for the generator. It would be nice if it had a voltmeter, but I guess that is a tradeoff with the price point.

How long it will run on full tank

Asked by: BRAD
It totally depends on what you are running. Go to the picture of the generator online at Homedepot.com and scroll down to the bottom of the page . Under the description there is a wattage guide for many common items you would use your generator for, also the Run time at 50% load is about 10 hours. You might do a test load with what you want to run, home appliances, tools etc. and get a better feel for your personal usage. It's really a great little generator.

Good running gas powered generator that has plenty of power (3600 running watts) that should be adequate for most homeowners as a "back up power generator" as well as for power demands when away from your home (includes several types of plug-in sockets for a variety of power cables.) It's pretty heavy duty, seems to be well built & has a 3 year warranty. Easy to assemble out of the box by installing the wheels & frame rest pads (the wrench provided doesn't work well-you'll need a small socket set and closed end wrenches for this). Other than that, fill it with the oil provided, fuel it up and you're ready to go. It started on the very first pull and ran well for 1/2 an hour as I used it to power my electric hedge trimmers on our rear property line. Am glad to have this unit ready to go in case we experience an extended power outage due to storms this winter!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This baby will “light up your life”. This is my first generator and I got it for a back-up. We have solar but it only works when there is sun light and not at night. Yes, we have no battery backup. Not legal with our setup. Set-up and start-up were quick and easy. A little assembly is required out of the box: wheels and a bottom support bracket with damping feet need to be installed. The operators & assembly manual is stuffed between generator and engine. They include all wrenches needed, how about that!!!.AND can you believe this--The included mounting bolts all have built in washers and lock washers minimizing assembly time and frustration from dropping or misplacing washers. I would still use a cut-off plastic bottle bottom to hold the bolts in during assembly. I also recommend checking all the factory assembled bolts and screws you can find to insure they are tight rather than have them vibrate out during a critical need. Check the spark plug gap, they supply the spark plug wrench too. The recommenced range is .6mm or .0235 inch to .8mm or .0315 inch. They even include oil and a funnel and tube to make it easy to fill oil. CAUTION! Raise oil fill side about 6 inches off ground when filling or it will run out as soon as you remove the filler tube. If you are using this for emergency backup only then only put in enough gas to start and make sure all is ok then let it run out of gas then check the oil level after it cools a little. Save the plastic bag it was shipped in to cover while in storage. It is heavy, about 100 lbs, but the fold away handle and wheels make it very easy to move around. Even though it is fairly compact storage is something you may want to consider. It has a steel roll cage around it so you could set larger flat bottom things on top OR lay a piece of wood on top as a shelf. It is also equipped with an hours run meter, making decisions regarding routine maintenance much easier. As far as operation, you just pull the starter and away it goes. Initially to test I put in about 4 ounces of gas, don’t forget to open the shut-off cock and put the choke on. I only pulled the starter ONCE and WHAM, BAM it fired right up. I let it run till it ran out of gas, let it sit a while then tilted it to drain the gas to the outlet and pulled starter ONCE and she fired up again and I again let the gas run out. I refuse to store it with gas in it. For a gas engine I think it is really quiet. Personal side comments: When I consider storage of anything using gas or storing the gas itself I am super conscious of any ignition source nearby. I was badly burned at 14 carrying a pan of gas past a gas water heater when POOF, the flames came on just them. There are only one set of standard 2-120V three prong ports provided. The manual says it has a 3.5 hr run time on a tank of gas but I have only run it long enough to test. There are warnings all over reminding you to use the proper gas; it cannot contain more than 10% ethanol (E10 gas). Follow the operators manual that suggests using an ethanol guard additive/gas stabilizer.

Simpson, FNA Group and The Home Depot come with a great Medium sized Generator. The Honda engine makes this a dependable long lasting generator! The picture is a little misleading as it does come with poly plastic wheels that won't go flat ! The handle is a one spring loaded locking pin away from folding away for storage ! It comes with a bottle of oil as it has a dry sump in shipping ! (Keep the bottle so you will have a measure for oil change) The control panel is very easy to read and lots of 110 volt outlets, even one for RV plug and a ground terminal ! The hour meter is a big plus !

First, this is my first generator, so some of my expectations may be naive or too high. I picked this generator up for three reasons: 1) in case of a power outage (we have earthquakes here, and you just never know how long the power will be out if one hits); 2) as a power source for RV camping, something that is in my near future; and 3) as a power station for the increasing number of jobs I have to do where power is not readily available, or long extension cords are not practical. I have not had the chance to use it for #1 and #2 yet, but as far as #3 goes, this is spot on. Set-up and start-up were quick. A little assembly is required out of the box: wheels and a bottom support bracket with damping feet need to be installed, but they include the wrench to do this (as well as a spark plug wrench). Also included was 4 cycle oil and a funnel, a pleasant surprise. I should say that when I opened the box I could distinctly smell a faint gasoline odor, but the carton says that is normal as they are tested, drained and cleaned before shipping (all good things). A Quick Start guide and detailed Operators Manual are included; the quick start guide is great for getting going fast. It is heavy, about 100 lbs, but the fold away handle and wheels make it very maneuverable. Lifting it is a two man job (to get it into a truck bed, for example), but I have not had to do this just yet. While it is on the smaller side, it does take up space (dimensions are XX by YY by ZZ), so storage is something you may want to consider. I simply built a shelf/table and store it under that when I don’t need it. It has a steel roll cage around it, so I don’t have to worry so much about damage to the unit. It is also equipped with an hours run meter, making decisions regarding routine maintenance much easier. As far as operation, you just pull the starter and away it goes. It was easily able to power my miter saw and circular and jig saws, the two most used “remote site” tools I use. I have not been able to test it yet with two other tools I use remotely: my router (2 HP/10 Amp) and my compressor (3.5 gal pancake). I will get around to using those with this generator soon. A portable table saw is also on my horizon, but my research on the power requirements of the ones I am looking at suggest there should be no problems using whatever I get. Some comments: at first I thought is was very noisy (remember: my first generator!) but I did not expect it to be quiet. My neighbor (who has had many generators) told me that this was quieter than most. I think it is a little too loud to use for a party (unless it was behind a brick wall during operation, which my yard has), but it is not excessively loud for my normal use, and now that I am in the ‘generator generation’ I listen to other ones and realize it is not too bad. Another comment is that it does not provide a 240V outlet; not a problem for me but do consider that. Only one set of standard 2-120V three prong ports are provided; I wish it had one more, but I have not as yet needed it, so maybe I’m just naive (you can buy a generator cord to add extra outlets, but they can be expensive and until I need one, I’m good to go). The manual says it has a 3.5 hr run time on a tank of gas; can’t say for sure on this, because I have not come close yet. Finally, there are warnings all over regarding the gas you use; it cannot contain more than 10% ethanol (E10 gas). This was a worry initially, as that is something I could not find on the gas pumps. Turns out, in our state (which does NOT require ethanol amount labeling at the pump), regular gas contains less than 10% (varies from provider to provider but is always under 10%). There are ways to test this, but I recommend putting an ethanol guard additive/gas stabilizer in your gas (the operators manual suggests this too, and Home Depot caries them as well). I recommend this generator; it another of those things you don’t realize you need until you need it. I expect to be happy with it for a long time and I believe it will fit and exceed my needs very nicely. Perfect for my needs!
