Product Overview

Not only do angles make joints stronger, they also provide more consistent, straight corners. Simpson Strong-Tie offers a wide variety of angles in various sizes and thicknesses to handle light-duty jobs or projects where a structural connection is needed. Some can be bent (skewed) to match the project. For outdoor projects or those where moisture is present, use our ZMAX zinc-coated connectors, which provide extra resistance against corrosion (look for a "Z" at the end of the model number).
  • Versatile connector for various 90° connections and home repair projects
  • Stronger than angled nailing or screw fastening alone
  • Help ensure joints are consistently straight and strong
  • Made from 18-Gauge steel
  • Galvanized (G90) for extra corrosion resistance
  • Install with 8d x 1-1/2 in. nails or #9 x 1-1/2 in. Strong-Drive SD screws

The A35 is rated with either 8dx1 1/2" nails or the SD9112 structural connector screw. In some loading conditions the nail capacity is higher and in others the screw capacity is higher; please see our website for details. It would be up to the Designer/Engineer of Record to specify for the fastener based on the specific application and demand load to be resisted. Thank you!

Though it may be common practice, we can only support installations of our products as they were designed/rated. Altered installations would need to be evaluated/approved by the Engineer of Record. Thank you!

You make that bend with duck bill clamp pliers, or hammer. packaging is easy when not bent and each installation would be different . aLeft hand bend or right hand bend. adjust to what you need by bending them on site.

Can these be used with pressure treated lumber

Asked by Jim February 18, 2017
1
Answer

The A35 has the standard G90 galvanized finish which provides a low level of corrosion protection and can be used with limited treated woods in dry, interior applications. Please see the "Corrosion" section of our website for complete information and the recommended finish for your condition. The A35 is also available in Z-MAX (A35Z) which provides a medium level of protection and Stainless Steel (A35SS) which provides a high level of protection. Thank you!

Can I use this to attach stair stringers to the rim joist of an outdoor deck?

Asked by Vinny November 3, 2016

Answer

It would be up to the Designer to specify the appropriate connector based on framing layout, demand loads, local building codes, etc., but the LSC Adjustable Stringer Connector is the connector we refer to for stringer connections. Thank you!

what value might F1 and F2 take?

Asked by larry December 29, 2014

Answer

The A34 allowable loads depend on the wood species being used. If using Douglas Fir or Southern Pine, both the F1 and *F2 floor loads are 395 lbs. If using Spruce-Pine-Fir or Hem Fir, the F1 and *F2 loads are 340 lbs. *connectors are required on both sides to achieve F2 loads in both directions. Thank you!

Structural engineer called for this A35 to connect 4x4 rim joist to a 4x8 beam for a balcony. Extremely strong when used with the correct screw. In our case, the 1/4"x 3" simpson sds screws were used and it passed inspection on the spot.

Excellent! Very strong and uses 8 screw/nails per angle. Structural engineer called for these to connect a 4x10 rim joist to a 2x10 ceiling joist for a balcony. Although small, you have lots of them and when used with the correct simpson screws, it's very strong. Inspection passed on the spot.
