Product Overview

  • Type 316 stainless steel construction for durability and strength
  • Corrosion resistance for lasting performance
  • Great for composite and encapsulated-composite decking
Simpson Strong-Tie offers a broad selection of fasteners for an unmatched variety of applications and conditions. Our Dexxter composite-decking screw is designed to ease installation and offer a cleaner, less noticeable fastening solution for composite and encapsulated-composite decking. For decks built in highly corrosive areas, Simpson Strong-Tie offers these fasteners in both Type 304 and Type 305 stainless steel. However, for the most corrosive environments, such as seaside and coastal environments, choose Type 316 stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance.
  • Unique thread formation removes excess decking material to ensure the screw is seated properly and consistently
  • Trim pan head reduces the mushroom effect, common with traditional decking screws, leaving a smoother, clean-looking installation
  • Type-17 point easily pierces composite substrate for faster starts
  • Head style minimizes visibility on the decking surface
  • Type 316 stainless steel for maximum corrosion protection
  • Driver bit included in each package (T-20 6-lobe drive - model# BIT20T-2)

What is the best screws for a picket fence

Asked by: Percy
We do not have a fastener to point to specifically for a picket fence as there are different types and thicknesses of wood that could be used. Being that it is not a structural application, there are many different screws that would be an option. It is likely you would want a screw that countersinks into the wood so the head does not protrude. Stainless steel should also be considered being that it is exterior. You may want to take a look at our DWP Wood SS Screw which is available in various lengths starting at 1 1/2". Thank you!

What screws to use for applying chair rail to steel studs?

What screws to use for applying chair rail to steel studs?
Asked by: Jack
We do not have a screw specifically for this application. I spoke with a few of our Fastener specialists and was told a few possible options: if the chair rail is to be painted, a drywall screw used for drywall over CFS can be used, fill over the countersunk head and then paint. Also, depending on the thickness of the studs, you might be able to use a pneumatic nailer and drive finishing nails (with glue) through the CFS stud. There is a "How to Fasten Trim to Drywall Attached to Metal Wall Studs" you-tube video they were referencing. I hope this helps! Thank you!
