Product Overview

  • Durable, 18-gauge steel construction
  • Pre-drilled for ease of installation
  • Corrosion-resistant finish for enhanced durability
Not only do angles make joints stronger, they also provide more consistent, straight corners. Simpson Strong-Tie offers a wide variety of angles in various sizes and thicknesses to handle light-duty jobs or projects where a structural connection is needed. Some can be bent (skewed) to match the project. For outdoor projects or those where moisture is present, use our ZMAX zinc-coated connectors, which provide extra resistance against corrosion (look for a "Z" at the end of the model number).
  • Versatile connector for various 90° connections and home repair projects
  • Stronger than angled nailing or screw fastening alone
  • Help ensure joints are consistently straight and strong
  • A35’s exclusive bend slot allows accurate bends to attach wood in a variety of configurations
  • Dimensions: 1-7/16 in. x 1-7/16 in. x 4-1/2 in.
  • Made from 18-Gauge steel
  • Galvanized for extra corrosion resistance
  • Install with 8d x 1-1/2 in. nails or #9 x 1-1/2 in. Strong-Drive SD screws

Would a 4" table vice and hand pressure be enough to bend the metal as shown in the HD product image? If not, what would be required to do so?
Asked by: skaizun
Yes that should work fine. I bought some for a project and had no trouble bending them by hand. You could always use the vice and a hammer if you have trouble.

These don't match the photo. They are missing a bend where they attach to the sill plate. Is that something I have to do when installing? Bend them? Seems silly.
Asked by: Janet
Yes, the bend is done in the field depending on the specific condition. You'll notice the various pictures and illustrations show different installations and bends. They are also often used in installations that require no bend. Thank you!

Can these be used with pressure treated lumber

Can these be used with pressure treated lumber
Asked by: Jim
The A35 has the standard G90 galvanized finish which provides a low level of corrosion protection and can be used with limited treated woods in dry, interior applications. Please see the "Corrosion" section of our website for complete information and the recommended finish for your condition. The A35 is also available in Z-MAX (A35Z) which provides a medium level of protection and Stainless Steel (A35SS) which provides a high level of protection. Thank you!

Asked by: Greg
The A35 does not have the Z-MAX (it has the standard G90 finish); please see the A35Z.

Structural engineer called for this A35 to connect 4x4 rim joist to a 4x8 beam for a balcony. Extremely strong when used with the correct screw. In our case, the 1/4"x 3" simpson sds screws were used and it passed inspection on the spot.

I had some stairs to the basement where the stringers were not properly attached to the wall or the header. I used this framing angle to reinforce the treads, risers and stringers. They were plenty heavy duty enough. Anything more would have been overkill. Now my stairs don't bounce!
