The H2.5A single-sided hurricane tie is designed to resist moderate loads at the rafter/truss-to-top-plate connection. As part of a continuous load path, the H2.5A resists both lateral and uplift loads. The symmetrical design eliminates the need for separate right and left parts.

Hello Anon, I am Colin with Simpson Strong-Tie. The H2.5ASS Stainless Steel hurricane ties must be installed with the specified fasteners or approved Strong Drive #9 stainless steel connector screws listed on strongtie.com or in the Wood Construction Connectors Catalog C-C-2021. Using other types of fasteners that have not been tested with the hurricane ties results in no allowable load values. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.

Yes, our stainless steel connectors are made from Type 316 Stainless Steel. Thank you!
H2.5A: Standard G90 Zinc Galvanized Coating contains 0.90 oz. of zinc per square foot of surface area (total both sides). This coating provides a low level of corrosion resistance and should be used in dry environments. Level of Corrosion Resistance: Low H2.5AZ: ZMax® Coating is a thicker coating (galvanized per ASTM A653 with a G185 coating) than the standard hot-dip galvanized coating (galvanized per ASTM A653 with a G90 coating). This thicker coating is available on select Simpson Strong-Tie connectors. Due to this increased galvanized thickness these connectors would be expected to have a longer service life than standard galvanized connectors. Level of Corrosion Resistance: Medium
There is no left and right version of the H2.5ASS hurricane tie. It can be installed on either side of the rafter/truss (or both, as specified by the designer). On one side of the rafter/truss the upper flange of the H2.5A will extend away from the plates and on the other side the upper flange will extend towards (over) the plates.
I think you just need to order a few and see how they fit. If You are ever in or around DI al i would be glad to lend you a few. they are all the same no left or right
Charlie - No, there is not a left and right version of the H2.5ASS. The H2.5A (all finishes) can be installed on either side of the rafter/truss (or both, as specified by the designer). On one side of the rafter/truss the upper flange of the H2.5A will extend away from the plates and on the other side the upper flange will extend towards (over) the plates. The middle drawing at the following link provides an example of this configuration: http://www.strongtie.com/products/connectors/h.asp#gallery3. Thank you!
