Questions & Answers

What is the proper drill bit size for these?

It would be helpful to include that info in the specs. Thx.
Asked by: PNH
The drill bit size depends on the adhesive anchor being used. Please see the drill bit diameter required for the adhesive you are using. Thank you!

Just wish Home Depot would stock HDG bearing plates instead of plain steel. HDG is required for any contact with pressure treated wood since the chemicals in the wood will rust plain steel. And the only thing you use these bolts for is for anchor bolts....in contact with pressure treated wood. A 3x3 bearing plate is required since the washer isn't good enough per code. Have to special order those things every time since it's not an in-store stock item. Go figure.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The gold standard in foundation bolts. Almost... Simpson has been making structural building hardware for as long as anyone can remember. Sute, there are other also ran manufacturers, but when was the last time you saw anything other than Simpson specified on a plan? Great reliable stuff available in every conceivable configuration. My only quibble with the recent Galvanized RFB retrofit foundation bolts is that the length head stamping is not as clear as it used to be, many being completely illegible, so when a plan calls for a minimum embedment of, say, 10 inches, this can cause a problem at inspection time. And who needs problems at inspection time? :) So, Absolutely 100% structurally good. The go-to product, but HD buyers could make a call to the production department and "urge" them to adjust their production equipment and, as a MAJOR Simpson account, they are likely to listen. Thanks for taking the time to read this review!

This product was an easy set and is holding quite well for the application it was used for. The Simpson Strong Tie was the exact product needed for the concrete footing used to support my tennis court poles. The ties were long enough and an adaquate diameter for the support and stability of the poles. Satisfied!!!
