The Outdoor Accents hex-head washer from Simpson Strong-Tie provides the decorative appearance of a bolt connection. Its patent-pending design enables a much easier installation time compared to through-bolting. The washer is code-listed (IAPMO). It is designed exclusively to fasten Outdoor Accents post bases, T and L straps and angles.

Great quality washer that can be used with or without bracket hardware
I just built an outdoor structure using these and both the 3-1/2" and 5-1/2" screws.
I am really happy with the quality, consistency, and the results.
They are expensive, but you really do get heavy duty quality with these.
I cannot speak to long term exposure, but judging from heft and finish, I am thinking they will be just fine.
I used them with just the screw, no other bracket. I counter sunk the hole about 1/16" with a 5/8 forstner bit and that let the washer sit flush against the wood with a little wiggle room for alignment. However I think if you drove the screw hard enough it would sink the washer in.

What a neat product. When used with the other strong tie products, this is a breeze. The washer sets in the hole on the tie , insert the screw and screw it in and your done. They add a nice finished look to the ties!

These have a good beefy lag bolt look while letting you use more drill driver friendly heavy duty wood screws. They help you not have to have exactly centered holes and you don't leave a huge hole in the wood if you have to change things up.
