Q:Do these have a torque spec?

Answer This Question

A:  Hello Charles, this is Ricardo with Simpson. In regards tot he RFB anchor bolt, there is no specified torque value for the anchor because it is considered an epoxy anchor. This means that your pull-out value comes from the epoxy, not the anchor itself. We offer different epoxies, such as our SET-XP and SET-3G products. If you have any more questions, or would like more information on our epoxies, please reach out to our Customer Service team at 1-(800)999-5099.

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi! You are correct - holes need to be oversized. However required size of drill bit may be different for each type of anchoring adhesive. You would need to follow installation instructions from the manufacturer of anchoring adhesive that you plan on using. Regards

      Answer This Question

A:  Not really. These would be more for tying the deck to the house. These are likely too short for what you want anyway. Only 5" long. You'd need somewhere in the 8-10" neighborhood, assuming you're using 2x8 for the joists. What you're looking for are carriage bolts. Bore the hole all the way through. Tap/hammer the bolt through the hole sinking the square ridge under the head into the wood. Washer and nut on the side you won't see. Tighten down until the washer starts to bury itself into the wood. Check out this guy's YouTube, he does quite a bit of decking. https://youtube.com/c/HomeRenoVisionDIY

A:  Hello, I assume the 4x4 posts serve as guard posts supporting railing in which case the assembly needs to resist forces mandated by local building code. I would suggest referring to your local building code or contacting your local building department to determine what is an acceptable solution for this connection. Regards

          Answer This Question

A:  The holes size would depend on the type of adhesive being used - please check the catalog page or packaging for the adhesive used. Thank you!

          by|Jan 13, 2021

A:  Installation of 5/8" diameter threaded rod requires 11/16" diameter hole for installations with anchoring adhesive.

A:  As the documentation for the AP adhesive does not indicate this. So a 3/4 inch would be sufficient. Thanks!
