I need to attach a 2x12 vertically to the top of a flat 2x4, running parallel, not at right angles. The roof rafters would connect to the 2x12. I plan to screw the two together but would like to add more strength where they meet. Would this work? If not, what would be appropriate?

Please contact our Engineering Support Department at 800/999-5099 so we're sure there is a clear understanding of the condition in order to suggest a possible connector(s). Ultimately it is up to the Designer/Engineer of Record to specify the appropriate connector based on framing layout, demand loads, local building codes, etc., but we're happy to help with potential options. Thank you!
